Fox Sports Southwest "fall" run down of the Big 12 football teams
Reviewed the entire Television - Fox Sports Southwest run down of the Big 12 football teams.
Before anybody pipes up about the media and it’s so tough to be them because they have so much to do. This effort left something to be desired. This round of team reviews was a poor example of let’s take the Spring review old footage – shot in April - then add in 2 minutes at the end to let the play by play guys Gary Reason? (sp) and Joel Klatt from /at the Big 12 media days. So they chatter about what they think is the key for each team. One does offense Klatt then Gary does the defense. That’s what each played in College. Go figure. In a word a terrible effort. The only exception was the UT review. Meaning it looks to have some new fall content. It appears they wove in some new footage- on top of the old spring footage - of the new anointed in Austin one G. Gilbert. Did you know he likes ice cream and listens to Taylor Swift? Fascinating. The north division was actually worse because they tried to run down each teams opponents by cutting in a repeated slide show depicting the exact same footage and narration 6 times in row. So you saw Nebraska x 5 then on Mizzou x 5 and Kansas x 5 on K State x 5 and then again on the Iowa state rundown. Repeat in case you missed it.. Can’t recall if they put the opponent in order of each teams schedule or just cut to it and replayed it. Weak. Un exciting. For the north division it appeared they actually travelled to the campus for the smiling blonde to do the fake intro the piece. My assessment of Fox Sports South West is they are not too good.. Clearly they had a budget cut. Weak and useless folks. No wonder they ran the shows past 1000 at night last Sunday and Monday. For shame Fox for shame. Anybody else have an opinion on the "coverage" and quality of these so called team reviews on our localized television coverage?

I voted they can do better
Only b/c there wasn’t a “these guys suck and are unwatchable” category. Too bad.

Horrible, content is basic at best, can’t mic a game at all, music and graphics are atleast ten years old. “personalities” are horrid, play by play is unintelligent dribble

I like FSSW
only when I see Emily Jones (for two reasons: she’s nice to look at and she’s a Texas Tech grad).
Go Raiders . . .

The problem is not that they are covering Big 12 sports. It’s that it the “product” just comes off as shoe string. Not to relaunch a new rant but you folks all know my feelings on their concept of fairness and balance. Their isn’t much – it’s all UT OU centric.
I actually met Emily at the 2008 SMU game and she is very nice to look at. So we have that going for us. Which is nice.

Big 12 Coverage Lacking
Absolutely agree. Coverage of the Big 12 is substandard at best. With the only real focus being on Texas and OU. Terrible reviews and unprofessional effort by the Fox Sports South “Team” (I use the word Team very loosely, as there seems to be very little in synch). They need to start over from scratch with management team that knows what it is doing. Clearly this bunch does not.
Roger that sortof a love hate relationship
We like seeing the teams & hate the way the content is wrapped up. Welcome VA Red Raider to the blogging family..
