I Am Optimistic
Perhaps you might call me naive, or overly optimistic. Yes it was a disheartening loss. The offense sputtered out of control, like a balloon that was stabbed with a needle, spazzing out and then falling helplessly to the ground, to its worst performance in 20 years.
The offense will be back.
The defense is here, right now.
Yes, I have an intense hate for everything burnt orange. But there is a simple fact that is hard to ignore. Yes, the Longhorns struggled a bit their first two games. Garrett Gilbert is good, but young, but not the second coming of Colt McCoy or Vince Young. But the Texas Defense I saw, was perhaps the best Texas defense I've seen Tech play in the last 5 years. Their defense, with field position battles, quarterback pressure, and general awareness (of taking advantage of our mistakes) won UT the game, straight up. But one off night does not mean the sky has officially fallen. In fact, I think next year, we have a solid chance of beating the Longhorns in Austin. Sure, we'll have a rookie QB, but we'll have an experienced, and older d-line, secondary, and linebacking crew. And lets be honest, our secondary, was playing like a top 3 secondary in the big 12, and top 15 in the nation last night. Scott Smith (if he doesn't get drafted this year) will be sick for his senior year, and our offense will still be gelling.
The season is not over. The Aggies and Tigers looked horrific, while we more than held up our own. Expect a hard rebound these next four weeks, and feel bad for Brandon Weeden, when he comes to the jones in 3 weeks, because his average Td/Int ration just might be reversed on that cool fall evening.
This is our team, lets support them!

I’ll be your first supporter here but my optimism is shrinking a bit. My expectations went from 10-2 to 8-4. I do think Tuberville will be a great coach for Tech but I think we have offensive issues all day long. Willis was is best hiring thus far but I’m still in the fence with Brown and possibly retaining Moore. Major adjustment need to be made to this offense and possibly the staff as well. For now I’m doing my best to remain optimistic like yourself but lets talk in late October. Guns Up!

I wonder about Moore also...
at the same time, he needs players…good recruits, which I place at the feet of the staff at large and the top three, Tuberville, Brown, and Willis.

Agreed, and thanks for writing this post
On Saturday we were playing what many experts consider the best defense in the country. (Excuse me while I get up and wash my hands to remove the bad mojo from typing that sentence.) All is not lost. Our defense played great, and they will get much better as the young guys gain experience. Coach T will make adjustments – he has more at stake than anyone. Effort was admirable from most of the players. Baron’s run-down of the UT defensive back streaking down the field was amazing and inspiring. Remember, they are still learning a new system. Guns Up!
You give me hope Colonel.

I tend to be a bit cynical about expert opinions
but am able, at the same time, to remember similar games, albeit on the road, that were except for some stats as miserable as last week’s.

This is a tricky wager......
As old as you are, you probably don’t have a mortgage.

I don't want somebody's mortgage
I will take their equity though.
It's called the Air Raid. So why would you try to run it like it's 1992?
I think there's one guy in Nacogdoches with some equity
but that’s about it. Everybody else is pouring their money into a wishing well.

The quote means I would bet the amount I pay for mortgage
But I hear our president has a way to not do that anymore…..I’m looking into it
