loudmouth large-nostriled afternoon host Colin Cowherd
I know this is late, but remember that discussion we had about NFL unions? Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone really ripped "the Heard"
a new one over that issue. I managed to miss this one when it came out. Taibbi is the best writer at the Stone since Hunter F. Thompson.

Have you read any of Thompson's stuff?
I like him, but I always feel like he is trying to outdo Hemingway. And that’s impossible.
I know, this is a football blog, but I saw the name.
Hunter F. Thompson is actually Hunter S. Thompson…
S for Stockton.
Plus, I can’t stand Cowherd.

Yea, I have read some of his stuff
even if I can’t get his middle initial right. I have done that before…
I think your Hemingway comment is a valid one, but most writer from Hunters generation were trying to live up to Hemingway.
This is one of my favorite Hunter articles.

Good stuff
I like how he plays with words and their usage (Pain and Fun)
PS- didn’t mean to come off like an accusatory, know it all jerk. Just got excited when I saw Thompson’s name.

I used to HATE Colin...
But the more I watched the herd/Sportsnation… he grew on me. You may not agree with some of his views but most of the time it is always what everyone is thinking but is afraid to say out loud, he really does call it like it is… sometimes you get offended because as a fan of whatever subject, you just don’t want to hear it.
One of the things that I give major props to Cowherd about is when he makes some outlandish comments he backs them up… example: a while back he was blasting MLB players for getting struck out by 80 mph fastballs, a player had challenged him to get in the box and put his money where his mouth is… Now he is no baseball player(or athlete for that matter) by any means, but they set him up with 10 pitches at or around 80 mph, all he had to do was get one in the field of play. 3rd pitch he got a base hit… He apparently does this kind of thing allot, and I respect that.
If you are gunna shoot your mouth off be prepared to back it up, and Cowherd does… unlike the other 95% of sports talk show hosts out there.
I still feel like....
ESPN has a formula that they follow.
Colin picks a topic that will piss off the most people (like calling union people lazy).
This will generate lots of hit to their web site and lot of phone calls.
Hits / phone call = ad revenue.
I always remind my self that even if they have 2 million listeners that is not even 1/10 of 1% of the US population
