Does anyone know if he is playing in the Texas vs the Nation game in San Antonio next week? I know Potts and Duncan are.

Whitlock

A personal favorite of mine, must be the same for lots of folks his UA WW jersey was I believe the 2nd or 3rd highest seling price

Dont buy the Espn/Disney/ABC hype ! Playoffs are just spin to hide their agenda of owning our favorite sport.

We could use a couple more guys like CW on the DL.

From what I have seen, an ideal student / athele. I like anyone who is down to earth and solid, that is the way he comes across to me.

The part about OU recruiting him to play OL makes me wonder what the recruiting process is really like…because they persisted in wanting him to play OL, they lost out on a very fine DL….weird.

A great player

Too bad his D line was so terrible at times that teams could just focus on him. Had Scott Smith played all year, Whitlock would have had a much more dominant season.

Hopefully he gets drafted to a good team and becomes successful. He deserves it.

by logan5555 on Jan 28, 2011 10:09 AM CST reply actions

Solid

That is his legacy. Few D-linemen go four years playing as solid a game as has Colby. He will be sorely missed. The NFL is going to love this man. He will give his all on every play of every game for every year. Best of fortune to him as he pursues his dreams.

TTpilk Psalm 117:
1 ¶ O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

Colby Whitlock is The Man

Whitlock has been a rock for the last four years. Teams who played Tech gameplanned around him. How do you know? What did teams do when he wasn’t playing—-they ran Tech ragged up the middle. Whitlock was Tech’s run defense.

In both appearance in uniform and performance, Whitlock reminded me of Randy White in his Cowboy days. Hopefully he gets an opportunity to strut his stuff in the NFL to show what a warrior’s heart can accomplish. Regarless of what happens going forward, I’ll always remember Colby Whitlock as one of my favorite Red Raiders of this era. Guns Up!

Hahahahaha!! I haven't slept in a few days.

I’ve been in Lockney, Petersburg, and Floydada telling my grandmother good bye. She finally passed last night, 8 years and counting…… She was a stubborn old lady, but we loved her.

Not sleeping is due to the fact that I’m staying with my cousin and we all like to drink. So I don’t remember the last time I slept, or showered for that matter. Gross.

I really don’t now what day it is.

Thanks much.

My grandmother was a Tech grad and took me to one of my first games in the 80’s. Her late husband was also a Tech grad and a farmer in Floydada. I found out a lot of interesting stuff about my family and the Athletic Department and the University the last few days. I’m seriously proud.

My grandad took flask in during the 1940’s. This is a long standing tradition of the Kappa Sig’s. Awesome!

Really?

Might now the guy. We have a bunch of Probasco’s, Hopper’s, and Graham’s. Probasco being my mom’s maiden name. Little farm towns will freak you out. Everybody knows everybody even 200 miles away. My wife’s supervisor in Midland is married to my mom’s classmate from Floydada, Kent Hale. Weird.

My uncle tried his hardest to get Tabasco to sponsor his F1 Team in the 80’s, they didn’t go for it.

Condolences

It is difficult when a close member of the family is called up yonder. My heart goes out to you and your family. It appears you all have many good memories to keep her alive in your hearts.

My favorite player the last two years.

Everytime I read another great story about a Tech Student Athelte, it just makes me proud to be a Red Raider. In my younger days I spent a lot of time around some great atheltes, and they respresent nothing like Tech athletes do. I love 3 star recruits. I hope the same will hold true with those 4 star recruits.

Good luck Colby, and makes us all proud.

Seems like a really solid, down to earth young man. Hope he does well! Also hope I don’t end up next to him on an airplane…

Whitlock is a solid dude.

I’m sure there is some way to find this info, but I would love to know how many games he missed over 4 years due to injury. I really don’t recall him missing a start over his career. It’s possible I’m just not remembering right. I’ll look in to this if I get time today.

One of the things that "made" Whitlock is that he was a wrestler in high school

in the mid-West and plains states where wrestling is king……….grecco roman….not TV. These kids start at like age 5 or so and wrestle all thru high school. This is excellent stamina building, agility, strength and quickness training. sad to say not much of that in Texas.
