Recruiting on the South Plains | SG Dusty Hannahs

I'm trying to keep up with Billy Clyde, but it's tough. Since the last time we checked in, Texas Tech has two more basketball commits, SG Dusty Hannahs and PG Daylen Robinson. We'll have to get to Robinson later, but for now, Hannahs was Gillispie's second commit and Robinson is the third commit for the 2012 recruiting class.
The Measurables:

The Player Speaks: You can find the video here at iHigh where Hannahs committed to Texas Tech, but I didn't have the patience to listen to the whole thing, so if someone does have the time, feel free to add a non-transcript in the comments. I did find this article from ARPreps.com from 2010, where Hannahs said that he had offers from some smaller schools, but larger schools were starting to take notice of what he's doing:
"I didn’t have many schools besides Wisconsin and Ole Miss earlier in the year," Hannahs said. "I kept playing and I got more and more schools interested. I knew it would pay off because I got into the gym every day. I don’t miss a day. This is what I want to do the rest of my life. I really want to stay in basketball and be a coach or something."
So as a sophomore, he averaged 20 points a game. Hannahs also talked (remember this was 2010) trying to work on his game:
"I like to use that as an advantage to get by people when they get up too close," Hannahs said. "I like to finish with floaters and moves around the basket. I’m trying to get my handles to be the best they can be. I think I’ll be playing a lot of point guard for the school this year. I want to get my overall game and defense better."
He hopes to take his skills to a school known for its basketball tradition.
"I want to go to a somewhere with a good history," said Hannahs, who claims a 32-inch vertical. "A school that’s more about basketball."
Offers and Rankings: The only ranking is from ESPN and the only other profile is with Rivals. Hannahs apparently had offers from SMU, Arkansas St., Central Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Rice and Southeast Missouri St. Right now, Texas Tech is Hannah's best offer.
Video and more after the jump.

Scouting Report: Well, Hannahs can shoot and apparently he likes to shoot in just about any given situation. Is he covered? Shoot. Is he open? Shoot? Does the defense have him double-teamed? Shoot. In high school, I actually totally fine with this and apparently Hannahs averaged 26 points per game last year and was also an Arkansas All-State selection. I wish I had a better idea as to his shooting percentage, but I couldn't find that information. Hannahs does have a decent drive to the basket and appears to have a decent ability to dribble, but it's really not on display in much of the video. Still, this team needs a good shooter and Hannahs fills that role for Gillispie.
Dusty, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!

Note to Hannahs.............
when you’re hot….shoot. if you are not hot………….shoot till you get hot………………oh and play a little defense in between.
"As we continue to merely "talk about championships""
What a name!
That would be one of the best band names ever for an all-female country band. That’s awesome!
Sounds like a promising ball player, too.
He looks like a good pure shooter.
It’s hard to tell about his quickness. Every HS player looks slow on these videos. We do need a couple of pure shooters. We seem to have a lot of players coming in that prefer to drive with the ball, but aren’t consistant with the outside shot. He’s not afraid to shoot for certain. Let’s hope he can fill up the hoop consistantly from long range.
51% from 3-point range, 90% from the FT line...
With those numbers, and what I see in his videos, I’m excited to get this sort of player on the court. I’m a firm believer that a guard should always be a deep threat to spread the defense out for more space down low.

I hope Dusty is a diamond in the sand.
Does not matter how highly recruited as long as he is the kind that Billy G wants.
Howdy, Seth!
Hope things are going or went well. You’ll find out we posters have been naughty little children during the A&M weekend. Hope we didn’t leave too big a mess!
I don't think Seth is back yet
I think he just scheduled this Recruiting Post before he left to get Fitsum

I kinda like Zron.
I could wear a horn helmet and disco boots.
No bullfights. No gambling. No donkeys. No vanilla extracts. No piƱatas. None of that stuff. Straight football. No switchblades.
