This one just does not look good for the good guys.....
we’d better have 65 guys going Doege to pull this off.

I agree...
I consider it a win (just for this season) if we hold OU under their point total against t.u. and score more points than t.u. did.
Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points? OU scores 42
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday? I will take the under because I believe OU will control the clock by running the ball.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game? If we see the Crawford of 2007 who ran well against OU, yes. But OU’s defense is stout. Collectively our RBs gain 140.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back? Not entirely this week unless we have some jailbreak screens. Doege has not seen a pass rush like this one. his hot route receivers need to be prepared.
OU 42 Tech 24
TechPrez We have a common view of the abilties of this program right now in Lubbock .
A. "Tech must Rush for 100 yards. On 20 plus RB carries." Seth C. has illustrated this several times over the last 4 years both Head coaches Leach and Tuberville win when a Tech Running Back gets over 100 yards in 20 (+) touches. This is a factor which has basically faced down all game time acid tests. It was true in the 2009 Cotton Bowl, just as it was true in the 2007 upset of OU in Lubbock, doing that rushing for 100 yards – sets up the short pass and gashes, punishes, takes advantage thereof , spoils and otherwise stifles the pass rush of the opposing defense. This factor plays into the game plan o f running 90- 100 plays and keeps the opponent in a scoring track meet.
B. "B. Keep Seth Doege upright. > 1 sacks allowed. Hurries, rollouts, QB scrambles yes. Sacks no." Not letting the tech QB in spread offense with mid grade linemen and mid grade wideouts – get swatted , hurried, shoved or otherwise hit by 290 pound fire breathing down linemen is well documented ..a confident, unbruised signal caller wearing a Tech uniform is a formidable opponent. If you make him run for his life more than 8- 10 times in our 70 or so touches the result is very predictable 25 percent errant throws dropped passes and missed spots of the open guy…remember .."just throw it to the open guy".. I bet Coach N. Brown has said this too.. it’s the basic tenet of the spread attack. The tech assault is just based on touches with open field to go straight ahead on and dare the opponent to risk all to disrupt it rhythm.. Tech may very well get 25 plus first downs..if Doege stay a relatively un-drubbed.
C. C. "Disable the Sooner run game for less than 150 yards. I like our chances better on a pass play than some damned reach block going for 7 yards a pop. Sigh."
The fact is our current defensive coordinator would be pulling his hair out if he had any hair. Sorry dude. But the Tech defense is/ are trending upward. I am not sure they will show much of that against the 5th best offense in the nation ( I thinks that’s where ESPN stat’s dude placed the Sooners.) The defenders are pretty good against rushing offense in spot play ie first half versus Kstate and in 2nd half against aTm. They will get gouged up in this brawl. But if the Raider defensive end crash down a few times and the CB’s get a couple of non calls on pass break ups then they might get OU to punt 4- 5 times this game. That’s a victory folks. These guys scored 7 straight times on KU. Let’s think this Vegas point spread over for a minute it’s basically saying no matter what the Tech Offense does the OU folks are going to score 4.5 times (td- 1.0 & FG =.5 score) more in the contest . So even if Tech somehow scores 30 then OU gets 60 points which is just flat unsatisfactory . So how do we get to within striking distance in the last 60 seconds of regulation? Tech’s way cool defensive coordinator has to get a run stop every other series, force a screen and out route for 6 yards vice allowing 6.5yards on first down rushes by the OU running backs. Any pass play OU throws plays – that doesn’t go for an explosive play of 20 plus yards – plays into a Tech game plan. Clock stops on missed passes, out route for first downs clock stops, as are those on the perimeter if they go out of bounds, way better if going out of bounds ever happens to OU. This scenario is infinitely IE mucho better than pressurizing the Tech offense to match score for score in a tightly constrained, hostile venue, with all those all American defenders flying around trying to make the boomer sooner highlight reel. If they throw and we have any pass rush worth anything then it gives the team a chance. If the Tech Defense Allows 200 yards rushing and you will never get within 21 points. So Go Russian Coffee pull it all out Baby.. just win the fight down front .

where to start
Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
no way unless the Lord looks down upon us and gives us a miracle.
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
if Oklahoma stays with their passing attack we got a chance. if they run on us all day….not a chance.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
I think Crawford will be just under. about 93 yards. Washington is gonna step up and get about 60 yards.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back?
if we can get the running game going yes. But we have to stop the WR screen and start throwing down field. every year we play OU they set back in zone coverage and try to force everything to be in front of them. this causes lots of tipped passed and INT’s. the way you beat that is sending people down the field in the middle and outside. hope that happens.

Good game
I think Tech stays within 20. I expect we’ll do well throwing the ball around picking up some yards but 3 and outs will get the best of us against the OU defense. I think Tech will come out full of fire in the first quarter but fades as the game progresses.
I think a Tech win would be a miracle against these guys in Norman but it’s college football and stranger things have happened. I would be satisfied short of a win with seeing limited turnovers, improved special teams and better game management.

I am calling it now
Seth’s helmet logo change is the difference in this game. We catch OU sleeping and Tuberville doesn’t blow this one. Tech 35-28, no FGs.
Simple rule of thumb: Everything before the but is BS.
Additionally
Tuberville benches #82 and despite 483 calls from his daddy, #82 sits entire game.

Prediction Time!!!
Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
Nope. Not a snowball’s chance in hell. OU hangs 50 to 60 pts.
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
No more than 3. Probably less.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
I could see it happening. I want to see D. Wash continue his progression.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back.
Not this game he won’t. I’m interested myself to see how he responds. But, OU’s defense is better than Kansas St. D. I’m not even interested in stats etc.. I just know OU’s defense is brutal.
OU 56 TTU 28. We’ll get em next time. (sigh).
Teach me how to Doege teach me teach me how to Doege!!!
Praying for an upset
Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
Probably not. But I think the score is going to be high on both sides. I see a shoot-out.
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
I think we get at least 1 sack on Landry and force him out of the pocket a few times or force a few throws to nobody.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
I think the Tech rushing will be about 110 yards but it will not be all from one player. Crawford probably gets 30 yards
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back?
Doege will be "Doege". I think he gets his groove back and throws for 350+ yards
The line opened with Oklahoma favored by 28 and has moved to 29 and up to 30 earlier in the week. Predict the score and make sure and vote in the poll.
I say we hang tight with them. Final score Tech 49 OU 59
But on the poll, I am voting for Tech to upset by 3 or less.

NUTS - Never Underestimate TEAM Strength

Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
A: No. But a DTNer sets up shop outside Gaylord and passes out free Wanda t-shirts, entrhalling a significant portion of the OU fans who can’t pass up a free t-shirt, so they miss a good chunk of the first quarter.
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
A: Less. But Smith’s recurrent remarks at the line of scrimmage about trailer parks and dental care get inside Jones’s head for the better part of the first half.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
A: After late night ruminations about the offensive use of a Rosa’s chicken taco, NB decides that, metaphorically, that’s exactly what Boise State did to OU with the Statue of Liberty play. It works once for 43 yards. After that, we get pico’ed. We get 97 yards rushing, and an 18-pack of 3.2 beer.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back?
A: Does “groove” include imperfections in the field near the hash marks around the 30-yard-line? If not, Doege throws two INTs, but also 4 TDs, which makes Jones think, “dude. This is a transcendent sign of my own QB prowess that I must take to the NFL.” He goes pro after the season and we slobberknock OU in the Jones next year.
The line opened with Oklahoma favored by 28 and has moved to 29 and up to 30 earlier in the week. Predict the score and make sure and vote in the poll.
A: Voted in the poll that OU wins by 29 or less. I don’t have a real reason for that other than misguided optimism and unabashed homerism. We’ll kick a field goal because old habits are hard to break, and there’s always backsliding. Final: OU 65, TTU 38. And there was little rejoicing.

Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
Yes, if they played like they did last week.
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
I predict probably 4 or 5 times.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
I think maybe 80 yards.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back?
Yes, he was trying to rush it last week. His first pick wasn’t his fault.
I predict Tech somehow pulls off a win by 1 to 3 points
I don't there is anything stopping OU
From scoring 50+ points this game. Norman is not the place to go not having a solid defensive identity (which I think we don’t).
I ashamedly picked OU to win the NC and I stand by that decision (washing mouth out with soap now). I think there are no more road blocks for them and they cruise through us.
For us to pull the major upset, I think a perfect game is in order. I mean flawless…I think the possibility of an OU meltdown is about as likely of me streaking the field at the World Series.
Tuberville will need touchdowns and not field goals. We need more first downs than 3 and outs. No interceptions. Lots of downfield passing. I have this great gameplan I’m emailing to Tubby and Co that goes like this “Score more points than they do.”
So in closing:
My good karma pick: 34-31 TTU on a winning drive.
My realist pick: 62-17 OU takes off our pants and burns them in the middle of the field while peeing on them to put it out.

Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
No. Defense is not Tech’s strong suit. (That’s dry humor folks!)
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
No. OU avg. .333 sacks allowed /game. I am sticking with the numbers on this one.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
No. I don’t even think the team rushes for >100 in this one.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back?
Doege will not be as sharp as his first 5 games, but not as bad as KS St. He is a cool dude, but the memories from last week will make him hesitate, and the pressure of the crowd/night game on ABC/OU’s defense will slow him down as well. <300 yrds; 2 TD; 1 INT
The line opened with Oklahoma favored by 28 and has moved to 29 and up to 30 earlier in the week. Predict the score and make sure and vote in the poll.
I think TT can beat the spread. I predict a 21 pt. loss by TT. OU=45; TT=24

Tech will not hold OU under 45.
Smith and Mackey will not have much impact.
Not a chance we get a 100 yards.
Doege will give it everything he’s got. But they are going to abuse him. 250 yards 4 sacks 2 TD’s and 2 ints.
O.U beats Tech just as bad as Stoops wants to. If they keep the starters into the second half it will get ugly. O.U. 65 to 14. They printed the victory T shirts months ago for this one. They have a better coach, better players and a better program. Go to the game Norman is a lot of fun. Wreck Em.
Seeing the final score of the OU/UT
Game, and considering the past history I think ol’ Bobby will have his way with Tubby and never blink an eye.

Last minuete loss.

They stage a comeback and we find a way to loose.
The end of this game will look a lot like the last one.
Oh, by the way the game will be called early due to storms.

Will Texas Tech be able to hold the Oklahoma offense below their scoring average of 45 points?
Dunno ! We find a way to give up points even when we look like we are playing defense a little bit !!
DE Scott Smith and DE Leon Mackey have had a huge impact since their respective returns, will they be able to sack Oklahoma QB Landry Jones more or less than three times on Saturday?
Don’t kow about Mackey, he didn’t make the stat list very strong last week. We don’t really have to sack LJ, we just need to make him really unhappy.
RB Aaron Crawford appeared to step in nicely for the injured RB Eric Stephens, will Crawford be able to rush for 100 yards against an Oklahoma defense that is allowing only an average of 116 per game?
Crawford’s yards gained are not nearly as important has the over all running game’s ability or not to make the bad guys pay attention and defend against the run every play.
QB Seth Doege had an off-day (by his standards) against Kansas St., with three interceptions and only one passing touchdown, but was still able to throw for 461 yards. Will Doege get his groove back?
Again, dunno, I think Doege was rushed last week and did not play with poise…ask any OL on the right side if they are going to make their blocks this game !!!
