TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL
A&M rivalry came to head with horse kidnapping | Red Raiders
This was pretty darned insightful and interesting, from when "allegedly" fans of TAMU stole Tech Beauty in 1963. The photos is pretty awesome as well because the Masked Rider is in all red rather than black.
Red Raider notebook: Injury, two-deep update | Red Raiders
Really, this is just an injury update, WR Darrin Moore is a game-time decision, while RT Mickey Okafor and LB Pete Robertson are both probable, while LB Tanner Foster is questionable. DE Scott Smith comes off of his one-year suspension so that's great from my perspective as I won't have to read "free scotty" after this week. Or at least that's my hope.
Mixed signals: Red Raiders say slow starts can't continue | Red Raiders | Stephens, run game flourishing | Red Raiders
Two articles, one on Texas Tech's slow starts. FS D.J. Johnson describes:
"It’s just a matter of getting enthusiastic," free safety D.J. Johnson said, "of having enthusiasm, getting pumped up with each other, offensively and defensively. We came out sluggish. We were excited, but we didn’t show the excitement. It was just a matter of getting that going."
And in the other article, OC Neal Brown talked about how RB Eric Stephens is improving finding his lanes and making reads:
"I think he did a better job today of trusting his run reads," Brown said on the sunny afternoon when the Red Raiders moved to 4-0. "You saw a lot more plays hit front side today on the zone and the inside zone, where last week, even though he had a good production day, he was cutting some of those runs inside when there were more yards to be had outside."

CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT
History of conference realignment drama comes down to growing TV money ... and not being left out | Red Raiders

I was just thinking
we needed to keep a ‘scotty’ campaign going, and with him going after other people’s girlfriends, lockup was a good idea.
Sorry about the "Free Scotty" Campaign.....
I just thought 1 football season was enough, anyway I digrese…..finally TTU will have Mackey/Smith up front and I’m not expecting miracles but I believe if the Scot will leave CueBall and Cobb @ LB the D will be aleast servicable and as The Cap’t used to say “just score more points!” We all hope the Blackout works this Saturday!!!! Wreck’Em Tech
Don't apologize to me
I was a part of that campaign too until stuff went down. If we win minimum 8 games and he has 10+ sacks on the year I’ll forgive him. hahaha
nancy
can get some forgiveness too if he’ll catch every single pass thrown to him and score td’s. winning gets forgiveness.
At least scotty has a chance for redemption.
he is
because he can’t/won’t catch a pass. Its harder to boo if he makes td catches (which is all theoretical, as he won’t catch anything that hits him on the numbers)
and because in perusing facebook I discovered something
While Doege drinks what appears to be Shiner Blonde, Zou drinks Coors heavy, Nancy drinks frickin Coors Light. No respectable man drinks Coors Light when given the option of other, better beers.
Three concerns
1. I am concerned that Moore and Doege will play injured and at less than full ability. While I want to win, I do not want to see them risk a more severe injury. I hope both are 100% for the game, same with Okafor and Mackey.
2. When is the defense going to stop the run and the pass? This week will be a tough tough time to start. I do not care how many yards we give up. Just get better each week, please.
3. Play a good game on TV and do not let it make you nervous. This team is sooooo young. The experienced players need to lead this weekend and calm the kids down.
Haven't all of the experienced players left the team?
"There is no chance he will win, but if you think about it carefully he would be a pretty good candidate. He says a lot with no substance, he's proven he can be bought, he's dishonest, and he has the personality of a TV evangelist so I think he would be perfect in Washington!"-- Mike Leach (When asked if he would vote for Craig James for Senate)
We miss Fehoko!
Maybe he’s not as fast, etc., but that guy gave us leadership—which our D sorely needs.
I think it's hush-hush.
The last thing you want is to tell the Ags that your qb1 has a sore shoulder.
Now we all know.
Coach Tubby is going to put you in a closet.
"I feel sorry for the guys," Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "They fought hard tonight. We didn't look good on offense or defense at times, and at times we looked pretty good. It's just, I don't know. Weird game.

"I feel sorry for the guys," Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "They fought hard tonight. We didn't look good on offense or defense at times, and at times we looked pretty good. It's just, I don't know. Weird game.
I just looked it up...
And Texas Tech is 10-3 since October 3, 2010. Perhaps we should, in fact, Lockup Scotty.
I kid, I kid.
Kind of.
I have a poetic license
I've said this before but worth saying again....
for the D it all depends on the first push. If the Dline can get a good push it causing all kinds of blocking problems and free’s up the LB’s. So, here is hoping Scotty and Mackey can cause some problems! Plus i am ready to see this D get unleashed! Time to get nasty!

NERD ALERT
I’m not proud of myself but:
But in 1982, the University of Oklahoma and Georgia Tech filed a joint antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA’s grip on television contract negotiations.
It was Georgia, not Georgia Tech.
Administrators across the nation reacted by forming the College Football Association as an ersatz collective bargaining body.
That’s also just false; the CFA predated the Supreme Court’s decision, and wasn’t a reaction to it. It was the CFA’s 1981 contract with NBC that caused the NCAA to threaten sanctions against CFA members (like OU and Georgia) which led OU and Georgia to file injunctions against disciplinary action by the NCAA, a fight that ultimately reached the Supreme Court.
Word vocabulary building
ersatz – German word meaning replacement or substitute.
"I feel sorry for the guys," Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "They fought hard tonight. We didn't look good on offense or defense at times, and at times we looked pretty good. It's just, I don't know. Weird game.
I always thought it meant a not quite as good substitute (John Mellencamp is an ersatz Bruce Springsteen)
At least that’s what I took from seeing it in context over & over. The German definition seems judgement neutral. Interesting.
2011 Season - No excuses. Just win!
I think 'ad hoc' would have been a better phrase for what the author was going for
not only because it’s from the Latin “for this” and indicates something used or formed for a particular purpose, which is what he really meant, but also because it avoids the vagaries of German words with no direct English translation.
Ersatz is better
You ever drink ersatz coffee? That’s what you say when you taste it—“Ersatz!”
Practice is over; the season now begins.
ATM is a good football team with flaws. they have given up over 500 yards passing in their last two games, and they are getting killed over the middle. They say it is becuase they can’t get to the quaterback, but that’s strange, they lead the league in sacks. Truth is, thier pass defense is one of the worst in the country. NB needs to exploit. Use the pass to set up the run.
Bailey sounds like it is Big 12 or bust. If that is the case, go Big 12. Go ahead and get all the Texas and Oklahoma schools and we can call it the Border Conference. The last time we were in this conference we won 9 championships.
"I feel sorry for the guys," Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "They fought hard tonight. We didn't look good on offense or defense at times, and at times we looked pretty good. It's just, I don't know. Weird game.
I am sending daily updates to NB just in case he does not read the NCAA stats.

the UNM game
gave me hope, but its hard to expect us to air it out just because we’re facing the 120th (worst) passing defense in FBS.
Mystery Team, or about right for how and who we have played?

Maybe after we whip the Aggies, and Texas gets humiliated by OU this weekend;
we can move up to the number seven in the power rankings. I don’t put too much stock into these ranknings, but seriously, pasting Iowa State above Tech. Thanks Tubby, everyone remembers that On Side Kick from last year.

the next two weeks
The next two weeks will show us what we really are. I am hopeful that Scotty will give us that extra push we need to shore up the D. Offensively we should be ableto move against the gaggies.
Win the next 2 and we should move up to the top 4. Right now I’d put us at 6 or 7 until we prove ourselves.
What burns me is that we’re judged based on our competition level but no one else is.
Come on Saturday!

We must win
No excuses going into this game. We have had plenty of practice in the past 5 weeks so lets bring everything we possibly have. This will probably our last chance to keep the aggies egos in check. It’s a must win for Tech or they get to say they beat us 3 years running before leaving the conference.
Our defense needs to play their best and we can’t make mistakes. Tackle, tackle, tackle and force turn-overs. No mistakes and minimize penalties.
I’m going to worthless this week until I’m in the car headed west!

Good news everyone! My wife and I were cleared and we’re leaving possibly Friday of this week to go pick up Fitsum! For those of you who don’t remember (I’m the one wearing red, Fitsum is the one distracted by something and the person on the right is my lovely wife) this is the little guy:

I don’t know what the rest of this week is going to be like, but I can guarantee you that it’s going to be hectic. I’ll try to have things in place for this week, but won’t make any promises. Add to that and we may be closing on a house this week too and will need to get moved into said house. If anyone wants to write a FanPost this week and coordinate it with me so that it can be on the front page, please feel free to email me at: doubletnation@gmail.com

Congrats!
Used to teach inner city kids in Dallas—lots of kids don’t have good parents or any parents at all. This little guy is going to be a blessed child with you and your lovely missus to raise him in a home with love. God bless you!
Teach that kid well, though
Looking at your picture I can just imagine him saying to you, “Dad, what’s an Aggie?”
Ok, 2 things.
1. If aTm and UT have both stolen and hurt our horse, why the hell have we not taken Bevo or the little dog?! Filemon you’re in CS right? Or am I mistaken? If anyone is in CS, get that dog!!!
2. In the San Antonio article, Sherman says something that shows that he truly understands how aTm works:
“We’re not smart enough to have our sights set on too many targets.”
seriously, they nab our horse
and then insist they think we’re not rivals…. maybe our supposed lack of retaliation is the problem.
BEVO shouldn’t be too hard to grab, he’s always in his trailer watching the LHN
Retaliation?
All the retaliation we need is to KICK THEIR ASS on the field! That’s what these guys understand, and then some. One of the sweetest memories of my Tech days was walking out of Kyle Field in October of 1976 after watching Rodney Allison torch the Ag’s secondary in a 27-16 win (that broke a 2 1/2 YEAR Ag home winning streak). I walked out of the stadium through a totally silent crowd of about 5,000 Aggies—and I’m dressed in a scarlet tech jersey with my black Tech ballcap. The Ags REALLY DON’T LIKE LOSING at their sacred Kyle Field (and dog cemetery), and hearing Raider fans yelling the traditional “Pooooooorrrrrr Aggggiieeessssss!!!”
I am and I was within snatching distance a few months ago...
But I had not heard of these dastardly deeds…. DAMN!
It is never too late for a Black Op though…. I believe there are several of us here in aggieville….and I ain’t scared to go back to jail either!!! LOL

I can think of a crap load of people to post bail too
Instead of one phone call, just ask for one blog post. Raider Nation has your back! Or Double T Nation anyhow.
Anyone remember?
In either 67 or 68, some faggies painted the statue of Will Rodgers on Soapsuds with maroon and white paint. The Chemistry Dept. had to come up with a special formulation of chemicals to remove the paint without destroying the statue. Ags are sorry bastards!

How about a man eating Land Shark!
That likes to eat male cheerleaders in white overalls that are fags.
American farmers feed & clothe the world!
Black Ops?
How ‘bout 60,000 rabid Tech fans dressed in Black screaming so hard that the Ags can’t help but fuck up when they have the ball? That sound like good black ops to me (and also, it’s legal). Still, it makes your blood boil when you read about the Ags killing our horse—makes you want to dig up one of those dead Revielles.
They killed our horse?! That was not mentioned in the article!
We need someone to “Vick” Reveille STAT! And midnight yell practice…..I don’t think that’s gonna work out so well for them. Depending on where they hold it.

Tech needs to play its best football of the year to hang with A&M, two embarrassing losses or no
Nothing worse than running into the buzzsaw of a talented but underachieving team coming off frustrating losses.
What the heck is up with the Wabash Cannonball and college bands?
I had to listen to the Kansas band play the Wabash Cannonball after each of the the 3 touchdowns in the 1st quarter and watch the students do some kind of aggie head bob. At 21-0, the song got irritating quick.
Did some research and found the Kansas State and Longhorn bands also play this song.
So when Kansas plays Kansas State, do they have dueling Cannonballs?
"I am the keep calm and carry on man"
That headbob thing was disconcerting, i was waiting for some serious head collisions.
I have a poetic license
Just like Tech and UT's dualing March Gradioso's
And now Baylor is in on the action playing ut as well.
You reminded me when you said you got tired of that song, the Cotton Bowl 95?? I got sick of hearing USC’s fight song and it was relentless. They scored like 56 points.

He says a lot with no substance, he's proven he can be bought, he's dishonest, and he has the personality of a TV evangelist so I think he would be perfect in Washington!"-- Mike Leach (When asked if he would vote for Craig James for Senate)
This is true as well

Glad the Rangers won!
Boy that was a long game~
Around here football is bigger than the state of Texas!
Glad Nolan Ryan bought the team.
Else Rangers would still be in Baseball Purgatory. The old Rangers were described perfectly by a book about them called “Seasons in Hell!”
They deserve a pennant after playing out doors in Dallas all summer
GW Bush was a fool for building a baseball stadium with no roof in Arlington, TX. It’s torture for the fans between late May & late September. It must be a whole lot worse for the players.
2011 Season - No excuses. Just win!
