Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

This...THIS is why I hate Gary Patterson. Biggest whiner in college sports. Read this and ask yourself, "Was June Jones factually wrong in his comment?" No, probably not. It's not like TCU reinvents itself every other year.

Like TCU, who is not yet a Big East member, has enough Big East skins to block adding a school.

But Would You

Like Gary Patterson if he coached for Tech?

Had

heard that he was calling around Tech when the Leach thing was going down…not a huge fan.

Me either!

I’m not sure why it is, but I feel like Gary Patterson has a chip on his shoulder., kinda like that “small man syndrome”

by MatadorProud on Oct 5, 2011 8:17 AM CDT up reply actions

Yes.

He’s an awesome coach and I don’t know what he said that was objectionable. If he’s telling the truth, and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt until someone who would know responds, then SMU done goofed.

I don’t know what he did that was whining. Everything he is quoted as saying in that article is awesome. What am I missing here?

Go register. Or else.

If he was our def coord and we had a top 15 defense. Yes I would cheer for him.

Wow

Is he a man, is he 40, coaches do say the darnedest things.

Simple rule of thumb: Everything before the but is BS.

And Remember

Patterson voted Tech #17 in the polls back in 08 in the season final polls.Patterson is another on of those guys that gets their face melted off in the movie….You know weasel looking…lmao

Both schools are unimpressive.

Just a couple of metro-plex church schools so what. SMU has a law school. TCU has no graduate programs in Medicine or Law, I think they have an MBA program thats fairly good. Their athletic programs are average at best when compared to Tech as are their academic programs. And Patterson is a putz.

I was just making a funny in jest.

The process of crowning a national championship in Div. I Football has been always been a big joke. Shifty eyes at the 1939 Aggies.

by idaho_techsan on Oct 5, 2011 4:54 PM CDT up reply actions

SMU has a “claimed” NC they lost the bowl game but still claimed the NC that year.

by ST04 on Oct 5, 2011 8:46 AM CDT up reply actions

Texas has a couple of those regular season only national titles - I saw them lose the 1971 Cotton Bowl

But they still claim that title on their equipment truck. UPI used to release their final poll before the bowl games were played. So most years there were two national champions, one before the bowls and one after. In the 20’s, 30’s & 40’s there were national champions crowned by every football magazine in America. The poll champion hadn’t yet become the defacto “official” NC winner. So in those years you find 6 or 7 teams crowned national champions. College football has always been a big mess. The BCS didn’t start it.

2011 Season - No excuses. Just win!

We've all been around football for longer than a day in some capacity

Eventually you’re going to get jobbed by bad officiating. That’s a totally out of proportion response from a guy who really ought to know better. As for the June Jones stuff, I’m just going to assume there’s some bad blood there from further back, as Jones’ comments are A) not really that inflammatory and B) pretty much true. And of course losing to Linda Rondstadt and the Stone Poneys is bound to make anyone a little pissy

Hey Patterson!

Why don’t you just stfu and take your Midol? Boy are you really bitchy lately.

by djn on Oct 4, 2011 8:08 PM CDT reply actions

Patterson reminds me of the fat kid in school that nobody liked but somehow found some success later in life. But he’s still bitter about his sophomore year in high school. He’s full of more BS false bravado than probably any coach in the country.

Woe is you, Gary…woe is you…sniff sniff.

by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2011 8:18 PM CDT reply actions

That's GP!

He’s as whiny and obnoxious as Snooki on “Jersey Shore.” Maybe those two should hook up in a new reality show.

It's crazy how the coach and the fans reflect eachother....

I’m not going to call anybody names….

Just going to leave a few random words around for thought

But at least the hookers are safe at TCU

Those poor SMU hookers never had a chance.

No bullfights. No gambling. No donkeys. No vanilla extracts. No piƱatas. None of that stuff. Straight football. No switchblades.

This

And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Not a Fan of GP

However, I feel like most, if not all, coaches have these days.

by raider05 on Oct 4, 2011 9:04 PM CDT reply actions

I have their names, they won't come back in this stadium!

If Leach said this after the UT officiating debacle a few years ago, we would have all cheered.

by logan5555 on Oct 4, 2011 9:52 PM CDT reply actions

I would have that game was way too biased in the calls.

by ST04 on Oct 5, 2011 8:47 AM CDT up reply actions

Hmph.

Coaches say things inheated moments. You just can’t get too excited for or against this type of stuff. Biggest response will usually come from his and opposing fans. We have had several coaches (King, Carlin, Knight, Myers, Leach, Dickey) who have had their own times of saying some stuff the media just loves to put into print. I say forget it and move on.

Uncharacteristic

…that Coach P would act in this manner. Knowing both sides of the Metroplex I can only attribute it to the hatred that is SMU & TCU and Dallas & Fort Worth. Plus there’s obviously some underlying animosity between him and June Jones. Even if Gary’s comments are valid, he would’ve been better served keeping them inside.

Uncharacteristic? Pure and utter bullshit

Patterson is a smart ass when he wins and a jackass the rest of the time.

Not a fan

I want to think he’s an ok person, but he makes it difficult.

He wants to have TCU viewed as a top program, but then you hear things like they would consider the B12 IF they were put in the North division. Really?

I’m probably not the best to comment. Bottomline for me is I’ll really never forgive his shitty vote for Tech in ‘08 final poll. Freaking crybaby. He’s just a bitter guy it seems to me.
