Step 1: Sell house. Step 2: Move in with parents. Step 3: Buy house. Step 4: Go pick up kid. Step 5: Profit. As you can see, selling your house, finding a new one and adopting a kid is easy. My wife and I have completed steps 1 through 3 and would like to give mad props to our realtor, Matt Malone with Century 21 Millennium Group. This is not a paid advertisement, this is heart-felt thanks for helping out with steps 1 and 3 and because I am not very good at expressing myself, this is my way to say thank you.

CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT
Missouri will explore conference options - Sports | The Columbia Daily Tribune - Columbia, Missouri and Curators tell Missouri to look beyond the Big 12 - KansasCity.com
As I somewhat expected, Missouri will be looking elsewhere, most likely the SEC to complete them. I've said it last week and I'll say it again, I don't blame them one bit and don't give one wit as to whether or not Missouri started conference realignment two years ago. They knew that partnering with UT wasn't going to be fun down the road and I agree with them. And yes, apparently the Longhorn Network is still a problem, per OB.com's Chip Brown:
But two sources close to the situation said a deal was nearly brokered on Tuesday that would have had the nine remaining schools in the Big 12 granting their TV rights on the Tier 1 and Tier 2 level for more than six years.
One source said the granting of rights would have been closer to the length of time left on the Big 12's Tier 2 TV deal with Fox, which has 13 years remaining.
But as part of the agreement, there were restrictions proposed on Tier 3 content, and Texas balked, the source said. The restrictions had to do with any and all high school content, the source said.
Texas' Longhorn Network has been at the center of debate over the airing of anything having to do with high schools. Currently, the NCAA has said LHN can show high school highlights in a news format. But LHN, which launched on Aug. 26, hasn't even been doing that - to avoid more controversy as the league works out its issues, sources said.
I've read comments from yesterday about how this is a mistake for Missouri in that they could be playing in front of empty stadiums in the SEC and that in the Big 12, they are one of the better programs. Absolutely, that could all happen. "Could" is the operative word. What "will" happen is that Missouri and Texas A&M will share all revenue with their conference partners equally. I don't know if it's going to work out for the Tigers and Aggies in a new conference and most likely, they won't be winning national championships any time soon, but they'll be on equal footing with the other universities in their conference. Meanwhile, UT fans continue to hold up their hands and say, "What? How could this happen? This is crazy, four universities have now left the same conference as us Longhorns. This must be a coincidence and have nothing to do with the Longhorn Network wanting to report real news, like high school football highlights, never mind that it could give UT a recruiting advantage, it's about America!" Whether you think that high school highlights are a big deal or are not a big deal is obviously your opinion, but these schools dislike something about the way the Big 12 was being handled and wanted to go somewhere else. I guess you could also say that Kansas St. and Texas Tech have also been in the same conference, so maybe they'reto blame. I don't know.

Tech CB remembers tough time with Aggies' Fuller | Red Raiders
I think we all remember this and would guess that CB Jarvis Phillips remembers this too:
"It was pretty much the worst day in the whole season for me," said Phillips, who led the team with four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. "There were other losses, but that loss particularly was one of the worst, because I kind of felt like it was my fault. He had a good game, and I kind of let the game get out of control, so I definitely don’t want that to happen again."
Phillips sounds like a kid that is trying to get better.

Notebooks! In the LAJ article, LB Daniel Cobb talk about DE's Leon Mackey and Scott Smith:
"Leon Mackey and Scott, they’re grown men," linebacker Daniel Cobb said Tuesday. "Those are men. That helps tremendously. The push off the edge, their speed, their power, that’s a big difference, and it helps a lot."
In the DT article, IR Bradley Marquez talks about the Texas Tech and Texas A&M rivalry:
"Honestly, my very first collegiate football game I attended was a Texas A&M-Tech game here," Marquez said, "when Dwayne Slay was (a Tech) safety and Jorvorskie Lane was (A&M’s) running back. It was definitely a fun game to watch. I enjoyed every bit of it."

TAMU defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter talks about their defense:
"We've been awful in takeaways," A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter said. "Flat awful. Part of that is not rerouting receivers, to get them where they're not where the quarterbacks need them to be. We're getting some decent pressure at times. Most of it we have to manufacture, and we have to do a better job in that."

I have been looking everywhere for that data! Thanks for passing it on Seth! I only wish the receiver didn’t have to have a catch to be listed. You gotta have options to do this. Missouri and TAMU had/have options. TTU might have options (like the SEC or Pac-12), but I think that if they did, they’d take them, and before anyone says that the remaining schools just voting out UT, this is not an option b/c the revenue that the Big 12 is receiving won’t be there w/o UT (or at least, this is what I think). Someone has to invite you to the dance in order to go to the dance, you just can’t show up unannounced (well, you can, but then all the cool guys will beat you up).

How does that translate into tvs?
That study we saw a few weeks ago showed they only had 700,000 fans to our 900,000. Even if we agree that study wouldn’t withstand the scrutiny of a graduate stats class, they still don’t rate near as high as a state u of a 5 mil person state. BEAT TEXAS
Im going to root for OU to beat the crap out of UT this week.
I hope OU beats them by 30 points.
I have family members that are Texas fans and I would love to see the looks on their faces when they realize they don’t belong in the top ten.
I keep asking every week, why did Texas go up in the rankings this week? They haven’t beat any ranked teams. No one can answer that question.

I'm loving seeing the whorn fans talk crap about OU on facebook
They really think they’re going to win.
I thought this was awesome, UT AD Dodds is doing all of it for the kids:
“We’re good people. And we do it the right way. And we’ve got 550 kids that we love, and we treat them the way they’re supposed to be treated. And we’re in it for kids. We didn’t do the Pac-12 (because of) the kids. It wasn’t money, it wasn’t anything else. We don’t want to put our kids in airplanes and have them in airplanes half their life going back and forth.
“We’ve worked hard to save the Big 12 twice now. We happen to have a network which, we did, we told everybody for five years that, ’We’re gonna do it, we’re gonna do it, you ought to do it, too’ – you know, we told ‘em. Any time TV came up in a room, we said, ’We’re gonna do our own third-tier network.’ We’ve been open about it. And today they’re looking for reasons, or somebody to blame. A&M’s looking for a reason, and they’ve made their reason that we’ve got a second game on the network. You know? Nebraska had three last year. I’ve not heard one word about that.
“But it’s an issue this year. And I’ve been a bad guy before, and I’m at an age where it doesn’t bother me. We’re doing the right thing. Every decision we’re making, we’re doing the right thing. We’re doing the right thing for the conference, we’re doing the right thing for the kids. If somebody wants to paint us as some awful people, then let ’em paint us.”
And this was a great analogy from Dodds, terrific work DeLoss:
“They could vote on it. But they might not get it. You know? It’s just never been a part of the deal. It’d be like us going to Oklahoma State and saying, ‘Hey, you got $160 million from Boone (Pickens). I think we ought to have a share of that.’ They’d say, ‘Well, that’s not fair.’ There are just some things that are done differently. We’re not gonna share Oklahoma State’s money, and they’re not gonna share our Tier 3 stuff.”
Go Raiders . . .

I'll Never Root for Out of State Schools
to beat Texas or Texas A&M. Texas Tech is responsible for its own situation. Just like I’m responsible for my own situation. I’m oilfield trash and damn proud of it. Envy can be a terrible thing.
I’m a double graduate of Tech and a third generation graduate; and, Tech has become what it has become because of its own grit and determination. No PUF and no favors from anyone. Texas Tech still has UT and A&M looking over their shoulder at us.
I’ll never pay a dime to watch the Longhorn Network and will cancel my cable before doing so, but I’d take the Red Raider Network if offered in a heartbeat. I hope Tech’s administartion fights the Longhorn Network on any issue that hurts Tech. However, I’ll never root for OU to beat Texas, and I won’t root for out of state schools to beat Texas schools unless that somehow helps Tech win a conference championship. I’m still for Texas schools before out of state schools, especially those cheating bastages at OU.
Texas losing would be our best chance
as I don’t see us beating OU in norman, but ut in austin is beatable.

I know this is a Tech blog, but this isn't true:
“What “will” happen is that Missouri and Texas A&M will share all revenue with their conference partners equally."
The SEC schools do not share their Tier 3 revenue. They only share Tiers 1-2, just like the Big XII has agreed to do.
When will the Big 12 Network start?
Because until that happens, teams will leave UT one at a time until you are standing all alone wondering where everybody went.

True but
Does Florida air conference games on their network? I don’t know the answer and I’ve been curious about that. The only difference I see between the LHN and the Florida network is potentially this but I have no clue if the SEC allows them to air conference games on it. Also, with the SEC partnering with CBS (or NBC, or ABC, I’m not sure) it is a little different than the LHN partnering with ESPN. Perfect example is when ESPN decides to pass on a game that would historically be aired on ESPN, or it’s sister networks, with the intentions being that game can then be picked up by the LHN. Any idea how they work that out in the SEC?
The SUN Network is a regional network in Florida that used to carry Tier 3 games of Florida's
Wahoo is right, currently the SEC leaves the Tier 3 rights to it’s members. Although, it is widely speculated that Mike Slive wants to package the Tier 3 rights together and create an SEC network, not unlike the B1G or PAC 12.
As of today, it does not exist, but you add the 11-12 million TV viewers that Aggie (Houston) and Mizzou (KC & St. Louis) brings and he has some more horsepower to supplant the B1G and PAC 12 TV Deals and create an SEC Network with the member institutions Tier 3 rights.

If you google SEC network
You can find an LSU site of some sort that talks about a game against Kentucky being aired on the SEC Network. I wish I had copied that link now.
I think as of now ESPN rights to the 2nd Tier is aired as the SEC Network, but is really just ESPN
by idaho_techsan on Oct 5, 2011 5:43 PM CDT up reply actions
Technically the same is true of the Longhorn Network
ESPN owns the LHN and pays UT for use of the brand as well as tier 3 content. Unlike the Big 10 network & the upcoming Pac 12 Network which are both wholly owned by the member schools collectively.
2011 Season - No excuses. Just win!
True re: LHN, but ESPN is the Tier 2 provider in the SEC and shows games regionally per those rights in SEC country
Slive is aiming, as reported at least, to create a network out of the Tier 3 rights and own them same as the B1G and PAC 12 does. Unless he puts that network (Tier 3) on the market for bidding.

Congratulations goes to Victoria Esson !!
Also congrats to Rose Tanui for her award in Cross Country Running !!
The addition of BYU and TCU would keep the conference strong and still have regional coverage. It is such a shame that UNM and NMSU are not stronger football schools because New Mexico would make the best regional sense in adding schools. UNM is great at basketball and would pull in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe TV market. NMSU is ok at basketball and baseball and they would pull NM and El Paso, TX TV market.
