Pretty interesting to look through the pictures and get a window into the early days of Texas Tech

THIS IS A KEEPER! Seth find a way to keep this on the front page EVERY DNT pull up.
Take your time, refer and check back often — Priceless — . I even found the first team and game! ( and, of course, the first Administration and classes. I still haven’t ‘seen’ it all!
PRICELESS< SIMPLY PRICELESS!! Thank you NM99.
It's the Alum center now
The building on the south side of Horn/Knapp closest to the intersection of University and 19th

Great find NM99
I just loved reading President Horn’s Letter to the Student body
Why do people look older back then in their pictures. The sophs and freshman look like they are in their 30’s
.

My dad had some LVs around
He was class of ‘42. His LVs were late ’30s to early 40’s—when Pete Cawthon was the head coach! Really interesting to see these old books and hear the history behind them.
The advertisements are fun.
At one point a fireproof hospital was something to yell about. (247)
Note three and 4 digit phone numbers.
Steam laundry service.
Numerous “modern” window advertisements (America was still mostly rural back then and farmhouse windows were crude, if not paper or hide. Cities had nicer wood windows with counterwieghts & pulleys. The admin building has manufactured steel. Things were moving fast back then!)
Rix furniture and undertaking – “the house of satisfaction”
Mmmkay.
(Factory of sadness was a long way off yet.)
Guess if you are hand building furniture, coffins aren’t that hard.
254 – Driverless car station. Ford coupes, Ford sedans, buick coach,
“if you dont want to ride the bus, just call 182 and have a car delivered to your door.
Drive it yourself – go where you please – come back when you get ready.”
Yes, That would be a model T variant.
Also see the hilarious and politically INcorrect “kissing situation” and financial statement, Pajama trouble, and “photographs” of the wrong end of cows.
Also note crop failure reported in the area during 1926.
Also note the callouts on "the rack"
“he is so narrow-minded, his ears flap together”
That’s a good one!
6-2-1 in football in their first year

This has proved to be rather handy...
I found my Mother in class of 1974, my wife and sister in law in 2006 and 2009, my grandparents in the 1940’s. Wow.
