Doege
will have a bounce-back game after last week, but not quite OU game caliber. He seems to have a knack for playing on the road.
Texas D play strong in the first 1.5 quarters and then Tech starts to roll
Texas Tech D actually plays strong against the run this game, which unfortunately opens up the passing game for Texas.
I think secondary struggles a bit this game, allowing Texas to have one of their best passing games of the year. In the end, Texas needs to come up with a game winning drive and they come up short. Tech 31- Texas 27
Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that? He is going to be so Doege. I am thinking around 350-400 yards passing and 0 ints
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma? This goes with the first questions and Texas will not beat the TTU Offense
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game? Very little success.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter? I have said all year that Bullit is a great player. He is someone who can make big plays when we need it. These two replacements are going to be liabilities.
Tech still wins UT: A lot TTU: slightly more
We have to outscore them.... TTU 35-28
Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that?
Doege. He is ready for this game for sure.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma?
TTU offense is gonna cranking it out. But the key here is the TTU D.
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game?
Man, I just don’t know. They haven’t shown me they can stop my grandma from crossing the street right now…so that tells me we are gonna have to out score them.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter?
Liabilities….we have to be able to play fast and play confident.

The total yards will look very similar….for Tech and UT. The difference will be Tech gets turnovers and UT doesn’t . Smith and Mackey each cause or recover one.

So is Doege going to be a good adjective or bad in this game. Limiting the mistakes early will keep Tech in this game. Three and out won’t get us there so hopefully Coach Brown ditches the IS game plan has some crafty offensive plays dialed in. Forget the lateral pass that parallels the line of scrimmage.
Coach Chad needs have a breakout day coaching defense. Mackey and Smith need to add pressure and force a turnover or two. Corker has me thinking he’ll deliver just from his attitude and eagerness to be on the field. LB’s and secondary be ready for a freight train coming at you all day long.
Special Teams needs to be perfect. Corona needs to eliminate giving UT a short field by kicking like it’s going to the parking lot. McRoy needs to be the little train that could. Tyrone Thurman type returns are what I’m talking about.
Coach Tuberville needs to look at this game as a time to gamble. It’s not likely we’ll win so forget 3 point increments of scoring. Be agressive coach and at least act fired up for these kids Saturday.

Tech wins...
Too busy this morning to answer all the questions. I’ve been very quiet this week and feel a very strange sense of calmness around this game. That is not my usual MO. I think we see two different halves and we score more by just a bit in our good half than they do in their good half.
Tech – 35 UT – 31
Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that?
Doege will be Doege, but he needs help, we need to get a run game going. We need the receivers to get open.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma? We will put up our points.
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game? If we play even close to what we did on defense against OU, it should be good enough. Just like A&M, they will get their yards on the ground. The key is to stop them at the right time, and hold them to field goals.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter? not too worried. I will be next week against OSU.
Tech: 34 Texas: 31
Hoping our emotional team leader............or team leader with emotional problems........or whatever
strives for honor evermore. Hope coach who has never beaten aTM, ISU or ut changes course and brings home a victory. Hope Corona only kicks extra points. Get Deoge on those bastards in orange.

Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that?
Doege will be mentally ready for this game, but I think teams are starting to figure out how to slow him down. I also think a big part of Doege’s success will depend on how quickly Tech’s defense can get UT off the field. If Tech has a limited number of possessions/opportunities, the numbers just aren’t going to be there. I say Doege has 250-300 yds. and 2 TD no INTs. But the low numbers are more for the lack of possessions.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma?
Although this is posed as an either/or question, I will take the middle ground. Tech’s offensive performance will be better than IS and worse than OU. That is simply a matter of both teams playing to their potential. UT’s avg. potential is better than what OU played, and Tech’s avg. potential is better than how we played against IS. As I said in my earlier response, I think Tech will be able to move the ball, but its offensive numbers will be limited b/c Tech’s defense will be on the field a majority of the game.
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game?
After Tech failed to stop IS’s running attack even when it was obvious to everyone that they were going to run the ball every down, I have little faith Tech can stop anybody’s rushing offense. Tackle onto that, if Tech sells out on the run, we are going to have inexperienced players as DBs on one-on-one coverage, and you have a recipe for disaster. I predict UT scores on all but 2 possessions.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter?
As I mentioned previously, to stop the run, Tech will have to put more DBs in the box (closer to the line) which is going to leave the remaining DBs vulnerable. If Texas ever feels the need to throw a pass b/c it just gets tired of rushing it down our throats, our DB’s will be in a pickle, so having inexperience backs there is a liability. Flannel will likely be the DB moved closer to the line, and since he is lighter than Bullitt, that is a liability. Corker just doesn’t have the skill or experience to cover UT quality receivers one-on-one. If he did, he would have been starting before Porter.
Score: Texas 31; Tech 17

I chose Tech by 3 or less
I am being homer right now, because despite all the the conversation, I am still not convinced Tuberville can win in Austin. But, I still want Tech to win.

Ugh
I’ve flipped flopped a dozen times this week on this game. My best friend is a UT alum and UT law school grad, huge fan, and he’s flip flopped a dozen times as well. He texted this am and predicts a Tech win by 5.
In the end, I think this will be a really good game. Lots of big plays from both offenses; lots of back and forth on the scoreboard. But I think Texas will hold us off at the end because their ground game will just chew up too much time for us to complete the deal.
Tech 33
UT 37
I say put 9 in the box on every D play and have 2 random safety net backs, that change on every play.
Bull rush the QB while filling the gaps. Make the QB grow up right then and there. If they beat us, make it through the air. If we can stuff the running game completely – at least we can have a shoot out. If we can make it a shootout, I like our odds.

I'm thinking the 11am road start helps
Seems to me the mental tank of our players is over-stuffed when they hit the field.
Too much verbal prep? No idea, but there’s something going on with our home game prep.
I really think having less time the night before and the day of the game may be a good thing. We’ll see.
Not having Trey Porter and T. Bullitt hurts.
I would love to see Tech scrap the 4-2-5 and employ a 4-3 for this game. Hubert, Cobb & Dees (3 LBs + sneak up a safety) Make’em throw over the top.
Tech 34
UT 31
Sorry, but we lose this one too.
Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that?
Doege will be fine. Unfortunately, the DL of texas is more than we can handle and he gets hurried and only has a average day.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma?
The texas defense is pretty good. They will jam our receivers at the line and limit Doege’s options. They also limit our rush yards to 3 yrs/attempt. We will score some points, but not like we used to.
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game?
We sell out stoppin the run by loading up the box. We still can’t stop them on the ground and this gives them the opportunity to work on thier pass plays.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter?
They will play hard, but make a lot of mistakes. On balance a net negative.
The line opened at 10, favoring the Longhorns, but has moved all the way to 14 and 14.5 as of this morning, predict the outcome in the poll.
I think this starts out as a pretty competitive game but gets ugly as the game goes on. We come out fired up to show the world that we don’t really suck as bad as we looked aginst Iowa State. Unfortunatley, it becomes painfully obvious that our defense is a joke and our offense, while better than last year, is still nowhere near where it should be. The coaches call the game like they are trying “to not lose instead of win”. Very similar to the aTm, K State, and Iowa State games. They run it down our throats all game and throw a few passes where thier talent and our lack of tackeling ability allows them to win and cover the spread.
Texas 45 – Tech 17
As a result of losing a bet, I have to refer to this team as "The team from Tech that lost to the Fightin' Texas Aggies" and I have to refer to our coaches as "The Tech Coach(es) that NEVER beat Texas A&M" until the end of the season.
they know,
our rush defense sucks right now. fozzy will probably whittaker us a lot. i want to be positive, but this time i’ve chosen not too, in hopes of being pleasantly surprised. Texas 34, Tech 21
I am praying
that last weeks miserable game was simply them letting that game go to prepare for Texas. It certainly looked like they were totally unprepared for ISU. Please, please, please let it be because they spent last week preparing for TU. If we win in the end I might decide that it was all worth it. We have to win first. I really hope the OU version of the Red Raiders show up tomorrow. That team could have beaten almost anyone. Also, if we do manage a half like we did against OU, I pray that they don’t start playing so conservative that they almost throw the game away like they did against OU. We CAN beat TU, I just don’t know if we WILL beat TU…….
I have a running bet with a friend on this game
Last year I had to wear a UT shirt at Wednesday Night church (we both worked with the college ministry) and I had to post a pic on FB/Twitter of me holding up Hook Em Horns.
This year we live in different towns so, just a FB/Twitter picture of the other teams logo with the words “I Lost” on it for a week is the wager.
So for my own pride I predict a win. I would say less than 3. Something will backfire for someone and whoever recovers the best will win the game. I think turnovers will be the key to victory.

I don’t think we play good in early games. It worries me.
Team may not be awake mentally. I hope im wrong.
Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that?
Doege is always Doege, just sometimes more of it comes out.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma?
Naaaa ! or Yepppo !
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game?
Much, if any !!
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter?
Assets, if even only by providing a body on the field.
The line opened at 10, favoring the Longhorns, but has moved all the way to 14 and 14.5 as of this morning, predict the outcome in the poll.
A bunch of us are ignoring any fact or rumor and just blindly voting we win going away !!
Living large in Texas...Texas forever.
Better than ISU performance....
….but less than OU performance. That’s my take on this game for Tech as an entire unit.
1 and 2. Doege has a better day, but against a better defense than ISU.
3. Tech defense couldn’t stop the worst running attack in the conf. They play better, but they are now up against the best running attack in the conf. Net-Net, the same result. Tech cannot stop the run.
4. Flannel – liability, as he is lighter and less experienced, therefore is a liability in stopping the run, where he’ll be needed most. Corker – an asset. I predict he gets a pick in this game.
5. And I agree with some of the above comments. Tubs has a couple of bonehead calls.
Add it all up, the Longhorns win. 45-28

Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that?
I say Doege is going to very "Doege". I think this will be one of his finer games. I think he knows he messed up against Iowa State and he will not repeat those mistakes. If he does get pressured by the horn’s DL and falters, I think the team helps him out and makes some spectacular catches and pushes on the runs.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma?
I say Tech comes out HOT and doesn’t stop—this team will be the one that showed up in Norman. I think it will be a close game but Tech will come out on top and comes away from DKR with a big "W".
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game?
The Tech Defense still gives up 150 to 200+ yards but we do stop them on crucial downs and we strip a few balls away for turnovers or loss of yards.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter?
Tech will struggle with the absence of Bullitt and Porter. I am hoping that Flannel and Corker have a great game and are able to cover the SS and CB positions with precision and great skill but I am anticipating some errors on their part.
The line opened at 10, favoring the Longhorns, but has moved all the way to 14 and 14.5 as of this morning, predict the outcome in the poll.
Since I live and work in the Austin metro area, all week long I have heard the TV, radio and newspaper personnel bashing Texas Tech. I want to cram a ton of points down their throats so they choke on their own words. The horns have forgotten the Red River Rivalry game. They got beat down by the Sooners and the Red Raiders figured out a way to beat the Sooners and we did it in Norman and not at a neutral site.
We were supposed to lose to OU by 29+pts. And we WON!!!

I have no TUBS love this weekend. Think we get bitch slapped, same old stuff we will not be able to stop the zone read. We will be poorly prepared, were are young blah blah blah. Will QB Seth Doege be Doege or will he be non-Doege and if he’s non-Doege, can this team overcome that? Doege will be Doege. No lapse this week. Sharp. Accurate. Deadly.
Will the Texas defense get the best of the Texas Tech offense, like against Iowa St., or will the Texas Tech offense be successful in putting some points on the board, like against Oklahoma? I think we hang 30 to 35. Uts d is pretty good.
Will the Texas Tech defense have much, if any success, in stopping the Texas running game?
Hell no – unfortunately.
Will SS Jared Flannel and new CB Shawn Corker be liabilities or assets as they replace SS Terrance Bullitt and CB Tre’ Porter?

Teach me how to Doege teach me teach me how to Doege!!!
Hope we win...
But wouldn’t bet the mortgage on it. We’re still not bowl eligible and Tubs is still coaching.
Might win if we....
1) win the turnover battle…by a lot
2) win the big play (over 30 yds) battle…by a lot
3) don’t play too conservative
4) make no big mistakes on special teams
Odds are against a win here and this team will struggle to become bowl eligible. The win at OU was a fluke. At this point, the talent level just isn’t here and that’s not all on Tubs. Doubt that ML would have a better record, but he would have found a way to win one of the last three home games (and scored more than 7 on I-State). Not sure Tubs can win without top level talent and that is an issue. Talent-wise, Tech should consistently be on par with everyone in the Big Whatever with the exception of Texas and OU; but they are not going to “out-recruit” the competition. So then in comes down to preparation, adaptation, execution and motivation. Win or lose, we need to see how this coaching staff and this team perform in the remaining games of 2011. I’m not ready to give up on Tubs just yet, but it won’t take much to push me over the edge.
