And the hits keep coming
After pledging his commitment to Tech today, it is now confirmed he has faxed his signed LOI to Oklahoma. There is a rumor floating that Glasgow walked out on Monday without quitting, and has been dirty recruiting, including Everett’s father today. Just rumors, but like I said, there is more to this story. What a nightmare.

Still hearing Glasgow
Packed his office on Monday, but did not quit. Conjecture he did not quit do to clause in contract. But he has not been reachable by phone or text, which may be the cause for Tech’s confusion around whether he is still DC. Rumor remains he is aggressively dirty not only Jucos but HA recruits as well. This is getting very ugly.

Seriously???
What a douche bag! Why won’t Tubs fire his butt???
not sure HE'S the douchebag...
speculation was that Mickey Okafor told his little brother not to come to Tech, too… it’s a shit show up in here
Can't really blame Okafor...
because he was probably just angry that he lost playing time as the season went on, not only that but supposedly he wanted to get out of Texas…also some said his stock dropped significantly over the year, so who knows? but if this is true about Glasgow…he should never get a major job again.
It is.....and if true Tubs owes explanation
But also if true, Glasgow is batshit crazy, and is also a raging dbag. You want out fine, but we paid him alot of money, and he is jeopardizing the livelihood of fellow coaches and family.

I wouldn’t rule out Tuberville giving him a reason to be angry enough to sabotage the recruiting process…
anyway, how did you hear about that? you got a little bird in the program?
No bird, just very specific rumors from another board.
Those close to the program saying they are hearing similar. But still, I don’t care how bad he may or may not have been treated, his response is bush league chicken shit.

Again all this is rumor, so take me and it for what is worth. But from a source I trust who has been refusing to share certain insight into what happened after the OU game I offer the following:
Glasgow was the ring leader of three coaches who took key players aside immediately after the OU game and told them that they “just got lucky” and the “better team lost”. This spread among the players like wildfire according to this “source”, especially among vets and key players.
Those who frequent other sites know the story I’m talking about, but the coach in question was not revealed until today. I honestly thought is was going to be Brown. Like I said, I can’t prove anything other than the guy saying it is connected to the program, I know that for sure.

"Dress good, yu'll play good. Play good, yu'll get paid good." -Deion Sanders
That's exactly what Tuberville said in every press conference this year
“We are not a good football team”. How many times did he say that? Evertime a mic approached his face.
"...Fight for the school we love so dearly"
again, we have zero indication it has any affect on players
although I concede it had an enormous affect on DTN posters. And again, assuming you are right and Tubs comments are out of line, why is that the focus of your comments now, when you have a fresh example of that type of counterproductive coach speak from Chad? Why are you giving him a pass?
"Dress good, yu'll play good. Play good, yu'll get paid good." -Deion Sanders
Nobody from Kent Hance to Tuberville to Glasgow to the players gets a pass
Nobody. No “oh the injuries were so devastating in 2010 and also in 2011” pass. The 2011 Texas Tech football team was an embarrassment. Nobody gets a pass. The SEC is known for stout defenses & power running offenses. This HC should at least know how to stop a running game if he knew nothing else when he took this job. There wasn’t a worse football team in America against the run this year. Nobody gets a pass. And no amount of lipstick smeared on this pig will make it into anything other than a pig. This is a 1st run movie: No Passes.

If he used the word "lucky"
a better way of saying it was, “guys you beat a very good OU team out there, but don’t think your work is done.WE PLAYED A LIGHTS OUT GAME, and CAPITALIZED on THEIR MISTAKES! People doubted us, but thats why you play the game! Now, lets go out there and work hard, and prove everyone wrong! Trust me boys when we see the tape, we will see many mistakes we made but we will continue to work hard and improve! I am PROUD of the way you fought tonight! Wreck ’em!.” (Its the us against the world mentality.)
Sadly if this is true, Glasgow lost his team that night as it appeared after the beat down the rookie from ISU laid on the Tech D the following week.
A coach should never use words like “lucky”. Verbiage is key!

They won't say except that they are assistants or GAs
and that probably means they are still on staff.
"Dress good, yu'll play good. Play good, yu'll get paid good." -Deion Sanders
Had to be more than that...
After the OU game, we were a completely different team with not an ounce of fight in us. I still think more will eventually come out on what really happened, but it will probably be after signing day in Feb.
That surprises me about Glasgow though...
He always seemed like an upbeat dude who had confidence and tried to build the players up…but I guess not! You said he told that to key players…which key players? Also, two other coaches were mentioned you said, and we had 2 or 3 coaches fired after the season. Could that be connected?
No clue on players
Supposedly Older players were celebrating in the locker room after the OU game, talked about how they shut OU down, Glasgow took offense and didn’t want them getting big head. Told them they were lucky, that OU had key injuries, that without the rain delay they lose.
One of the other coaches was allegedly Mounds, and an assistant still on staff. If you gave a certain paid membership you have seen this story develop, and now conclude.

But I’m not sure who the revised version benefits? Glasgow looks crazy, the players look like wusses, and Tuberville can’t make a hire that doesn’t beat his wife or stab him in the back. No winners, just explainations

Any way you put it sounds like a losing situation...
But I think that this could be credible because I have seen on the Scout.com board that other people have heard the same rumors about Glasgow doing some stuff after the OU game that the players didn’t like
Taken out of context you can make it sound defeatist
but it could have been as simple as a coach telling kids who were riding the emotional high not to take it for granted lest they get their ass beat in turn (can’t imagine why he’d have thought that was possible). You can fit it into a narrative of Glasgow just being a bad egg, but the reality’s probably more complicated. Not that it matters that much; if he was steering players away from Tech while still employed, that’s clearly as good a reason to fire a guy as you’re going to get.

From a non premium board:
“This board deserves to know what is going on in this situation so here goes…and I wouldn’t say it without permission either. It is a * move and you guys deserve to hear it.
Glascow walked into his office Monday morning and cleaned out his desk, packed his stuff, and walked out of the door. A couple of people saw him and asked “where are you going?”. He said paraphrasing “the writing is on the wall I’m out of here” and left the building. He did not go into Tubs office and quit like I had previously thought. He just left without saying a word. Since that day he has been on the phone negative recruiting Texas Tech and it has been a battle keeping these kids while we are calling at one time and the “supposed” defensive coordinator is calling on the next line bad recruiting against the school that he represents.
Our staff can not get a hold of him to talk to him, text him, etc…it’s a mess and Tubs is furious.
In regards to Everett, Glascow has been calling his dad today and telling him about what Texas Tech is doing and how they are running their program. Sounds as though Everett is listening as well as his dad. But our staff believes he is still solid to Tech.
If you want my opinion the 4-3 will be better for Texas Tech and is something Tubs will be very hands on with. I look for him to be a Manager as opposed to a CEO this upcoming season. I think the leash is short."

I like Tubs
and I think he will be successful here, but he HAS to choose better assistants. I think we are seeing this though because look at how he fired 2 position coaches and replaced them with experienced defensive coaches…let’s just hope we fire this d-bag and get a better, more experienced DC. Randy Shannon, anyone???
You cannot be successful without a fan base...
with assistants stabbing you in the back, 2/3rds of your team injured, and the other third underclassmen. Tubs needs a defining moment or this thing gets away from him. I know some are rooting for that, but I think the alternative is far worse. No one we want will come to this dumpster fire if it gets that far. The spring should be interesting.

i disagree
I had hopes for tubs and his first OC and DC. Brown has had his moments but the Willis was a HUGE mistake by Tubs and Glasgow is turning out to be another HUGE mistake. We were promised defense and so far Tubs has fail miserably on that side of the bad. Also the special teams have been awful. Over the past two years, our offense has gotten progressively worse and our defense has completely taken a nose dive. I have very little confidence in Tuberville’s ability to turn this this around. My main concern is his inability to manage his own staff. He our football program currently looks like a quilt of sorts, patched together with not true direction. Are we a spread? Are we run first? Are we a 3-4? are we a 4-2-5? 4-3? I have no clue what we are anymore.

Auburn again??
This is getting ugly. Things should be interesting next year. Don’t ever remember Tech going through such gyrations. I guess thinking about Tubs final years at Auburn, it sort of sounds familiar. Sure hope we can right this thing. Not sure.
Whew!
I guess if you don’t geton the ‘net very often things can change drastically. I know our defense was not what it should have been, but if Glasgow undermined whatever was being attempted to improve in the recruiting area, I am glad he is gone. It is hard enough to get players to come to Lubbock and play at Tech without that stuff going on. I sure hope Tuberville and Holcut have a handle on this to prevent total destruction. Texas Tech does not deserve this kind of retaliation and the culprit should be blackballed if all this is true. Mike Leach was screwed badly by the higher-ups at Tech, but he never said anything against the university to prevent players from signing on to play there. It’s called “CLASS”. That is something apparently that Glasgow does not have.

So… something about this just seems wrong. Either the dude was a basketcase from the get-go (and there were NO rumors coming out of TCU to confirm that) or there’s more to this story than is currently in the rumor mill.
Again, I’d really like someone to start patrolling the TCU boards and looking for answers there.
I can almost promise there is more to this...
but IMO there is no explanation that will justify kicking the program on the way out if that’s true. It’s called professionalism. If your boss doesn’t have it fine, if you have been working in conditions that make labor camps look like Club Med fine…but handle your self with dignity on the way out. If it’s true, simply a horrible hire, that dovetails perfectly with a horrible defense.

I'm not convinced either
I said a few months ago that Hocutt has yet to impress and some where very upset at that remark. I personally thought this guy would be a go getter that would be very vocal on the sports scene. Scheduling and conference realighnment left me thinking he’s just filling a void for that position with little add. I hope he does start to make an impact especially with all the bad press and poor football we witnessed in the fall. As much as I don’t like Deloss Dodds at UT I will say he’s very engaged in his job and never quiet.

Deloss hired Mack, so he has the right to speak up about the affairs of $Texas Football
Not to mention everything else he has brought $Texas Athletics.
I think Kirby will show more vocal thoughts, when the HC of Football is his hire. He did close the BCG deal and I think as the department as a whole becomes built around his decisions he will speak more on the current state of affairs. Right now keeping his opinions between him and Tubs is the wisest course of action, IMO.

That may be true, but I guess I’d ask how he’s been a puppet. I try to be rational, but there are very few coaches that don’t make it past a 3 year window to turn things around. I think that Hocutt has told Tuberville that if he doesn’t turn it around, then he’s gone, which is why we’re seeing everything happen surrounding the football program.
If you mean that he’s just done the bidding of Hance or the BOR then I guess I’d need an explanation.
I can tell you that I have received a handful of emails from people, some ordinary people and some people who are big donors, who said that Hocutt has reached out to a lot of folks who are dismayed at the current state of things at Texas Tech. I think that Hocutt is wrapping his head around all of the negativity surrounding the football program and trying to work out a plan.
Even if Hocutt says something, I don’t know how he could make this any better right now by saying anything.
Go Raiders . . .

Hocutt's probably very involved
We’re just not hearing about it right now. And I’m SURE not one to blindly follow the party line. (One of my interests in college was modern Chinese politics. That’s good training for following stories like this!)
I have to agree that Hocutt has probably laid the ground work out for next year,
Tommy knows he has one year to make dramatic improvements, hence moving back to 4-3 and likely a more run oriented offense. Neil Brown interviews would indicate he was looking for a soft landing, because he knows that this is a last chance to get out with some choice involved. If there is any truth to the rumors about Glascow, then he may have taken a different tact especially since he is less credibility as a DC and likely going back to a position coach here (not unlike Major as a Co-OC at $Texas) or somewhere else.
Either way it appears that Tuberville is acting along the lines of his last year at Auburn and making drastic attempts to survive to live another season beyond 2012. I personally like that Sonny took the extension at LaTech, if he comes back to Texas to HC then Tech would be a good fit for obvious reasons from his past.

The commitment statement (public benchmark) from Hocutt after the Baylor game, reeks of a AD telling a coach I have given you public support while telling him internally you have a year to prove it to me or we (Tech) are going a different direction if we see the same results.

Pretty much my assessment too
Sonny would be a good hire and welcomed by the fans. Venebles would be a smart move too. Tubs has just got nothing left in the tank. He is apathetic at best. No fire just rhetoric. Bad hire followed by bad/inexperienced asst. hires. Tech is last place in the old Big 12 south with little hope of changing that next yr. Who would have thought it.
wouldn't mind Sonny.
I met/spoke with him a few times when I was at Tech, very nice guy and seemed down to earth.
Seth, in your opinion,
what do you think Hocutts definition of “turn it around” is.
Just your guess.

He'd better speak up, otherwise he
looks as inept as the rest of them.
Why? What would he say that would make you think he is more or less inept? I think the damage was done before he could have done anything about it,

the waiting and not settling the story is sort of an issue...
my money is on them waiting until right before Christmas to put the story out there… in hopes that people will be distracted by the holiday and will talk about something else
Maybe the ending of the story with Glasgow hasn't totally been written yet.
If it’s not a complete chapter, Hocutt would be the fool to affirm anything is going on. Wait until there’s a story to tell…then decide if you need to tell the story; or a scrubbed version of it.

Texas Tech could use some adult supervision at this point
Is every member of the Board of Regents blind to the disaster this has become & how their Chancellor is at the heart of every screw-up? Nothing gets better until Hance retires. Somebody in a position of authority needs to nudge things towards that conclusion. John Scovell seems like a sane person. Maybe he can lead the revolt.

I agree.....
Hance is the common denominator. I’m convinced things will not improve at Texas Tech until he’s gone. Unfortunately, I doubt the BOR would agree. Many on the BOR were plucked from the same pool of political patronage as Hance.
Eye of the storm
I feel as if we are in the eye of a cat5 hurricane right now. All waiting to see what the next 24-36 hours brings.
All that has been written is speculation, but some of it makes sense. Maybe only to me. I agree with Seth and others that Hocutt put Tubs on notice. The actions that Tubs has taken seems to indicate that. I also believe this will be his last HC gig before he retires, so he is trying to do whatever he can to not go out as a loser. For Tech and the team, I hope he is successful.
I don’t know what to make of the Glasgow fiasco, but here is my take.
Surely Glasgow knew the product he was responsible for putting on the field was a total disaster. Why would he not expect to be fired for such a pitiful performance? If he did in fact walk out the door and go rogue, he will suffer the consequences. His alleged actions also indicate to me that his anger could have been building up over the past few months. Again, speculation on my part. We may never know what really happened. One thing I will not do is give him a pass on injuries, youth, inexperience or anything else that he might present as an excuse for his performance. He signed up for the task, has many years of coaching experience, and came from a winning program. Sorry, Chad. You failed. Move on with your life, and we will too.

I was born in a cross fire hurricane.
Good luck to coach Glascow
I sure it was hell working for a micromanager like Tubs who take no resposibility for anything. We don’t know the whole story here and prolly never will. Tubs has plenty of detractors in the world of coaching. He expects undying loyalty yet offers not the same in return. Glascow will be just fine and coaching in another program soon. I love Tech football but I can’t blame a recruit like Everett leaving. Our program is in total freefall and he needs to think about his future. I am sure its hard for him to navigate thru the bullshit being thrown his way.
We all have seen how fired up CG can get while coaching.
Maybe some of that carried over into the HC office. Maybe it was prompted by some of the hirings. Two sides to every story.
Ummm, we still don't know if there's actually a story here.
It’s been 48 hrs and still no official notice that Tech is out of a DC. Rumors are fun and juicy but so far, this smoke has no fire.
11/12/11...66-6...I once was blind, but now I see.
What started this was a kid pledging, then sending LOI to another school.
That happens…more often than we probably realize. But so far, there’s nothing out there with any factual basis that CG led this kid astray, quit or was fired.

Well if you can't
get a hold of the coach to fire him you just have to wait.

Any chance Tom asked Chad to move to DB coach?
I’ve seen it happen. Not like he was good at DC or that he had invested years as DC. After all, he was DB copach at TCU, right?
Chad
Chad was on campus today, and was his usual friendly, polite self to Tech employees.
I wish the people on here calling him names and eagerly spreading rumors and lies
about him like school gang punks, a blessed and Merry Christmas.

Why don’t you and the other Tech Trolls just shut up.
Stop making fools of yourselves and go back to DTN where you belong.

obnoxious and tiresome with you pandering, argumentative, comments.
It is embarrassing to me to read them.

Vatos locos for long time!
Happy Holidays to you as well. We here at DTN hope you can look past our “name calling and rumor spreading” and see that we’re wholesome good people that are concerned with our University.
I personally wish that you could find a way to conduct yourself in a less “better than you” manner and leave the adult stuff to Mom and Dad. Seriously, we’re having grown up talk here and you’re acting like that pissant nephew on the “other side of the family” that is starving for attention and upsetting the nice people at the family reunion.

funny thing, this jerkwad calling Austin, Blackturd (whoever that is) and others out
if you go and read the whole post, non of those were listed as posting. the guy that posted the quote above had been on cougcenter for a whole week. Seth has done a great job of exhibiting patience in our little playpen here at DTN. It comes with maturity. Cougcenter is run by a bunch of kids that like KWash know everthing.
Side note: mbrown is correct……….stay away from too many oreos.

ok, I have been contacted by "someone"
and right after Christmas, we are going TING hunting. Yep, after Santa brings me my new 270 and Nikon scope, WE are treking to God knows where, but by the time Spring Game rolls around, Austin and I will have that sucker mounted on the wall

Geez...
With Blackbeard and good old Austin hunting this critter down, I “almost” feel sorry for him/it. Notice, I said “almost.” I’d love to see a Youtube clip of those two chasing down the wild TING—“getcha popcorn ready!”
I don't feel sorry for anyone who disses or posts false info just to "be the first".
Seems like the truth on anything is never clear, and never starts to clear for a while anyway. I should have held off on speculating until I got more facts. Still don’t know what we have/don’t have, but I want four things for Christmas…
1) A really legit DB coach.
2) A reason to think that if we are behind in the fourth quarter that we can still win, no matter the score.
3) Kids growing up dreaming to be Red Raiders, just like I did. And I hope they are girl and boy athletes sprinkled into that group.
4) Excellence in leadership in sports and academics and research.
This is what it looks like when people fight for the school they love so dearly

Yea I was just saying it more out of disappointment...
It’s a good thread
WOW...
He spoke with Martinez and Stoops and was convinced that Norman was his destination. And when he tried to get in touch with Texas Tech defensive coordinator Chad Glasgow, he didn’t hear anything. Everett said Glasgow’s phone was disconnected the multiple times he tried to reach him Wednesday.
Rumors have persisted about Glasgow’s future all week. But as of Thursday night, he is still the Texas Tech defensive coordinator. And when Everett needed him the most, he said he couldn’t reach Glasgow.
It was a big blow for Everett since it was Glasgow that had formed the relationship with Everett’s father. Everett said he didn’t try to get in touch with anybody else from the Tech coaching staff. He went back home after the press conference to change clothes and came back to fax his national letter of intent. He knew he was sending it to Oklahoma, ending all speculation and an intense two-team race to acquire Everett
Just shows the lack of professionalism our coaching staff has. I’m amazed at how none of our coaches called this kid knowing Glasgow was on his way out. If they were smart enough to disconnect his phone they should have been smart enough to call his high profile recruit.
"You've got to find your inner pirate" - Mike Leach
I haven’t listened to the interview, but I’ve been told that Prunty was on the Williams and Hyatt Show on signing day and Prunty talked with Everett and then Everett went into the signing ceremony. I think what happened next is that the OU coaches called, told them about Glasgow and told them to try calling his cell.

Maybe all those tweets were just full of sugar and nothing else……;)
I am totally out of any loop that encompases the sports department at Tech, so I really can;’t add or detract from this issue. I really hope some of the bad things mentioned are just rumors and nothing more. I would like for some kind of continuity on the defensive side of the ball for a change and keeping the same DC is the best way for that to happen. i am sure Glasgow knows several defensive alignments very well and can coach up the players for them as necessary. With some added coaching on that side of the ball now, maybe he can get the players coached up a bit better. I want Tech to be successful no matter who is running the show. If it does not improve the coming season, I am sur Hocutt will do what is needed to turn that train around. We have some good juco talent arriving, along with some highly thought of high school recruits. If the coaches can ge a good blend of talent figured out, Tech still has a chance to improve in the win column by a couple or three games. This off season is going to be tough for us and the team. My expectations will kind of hover in neutral until at least the Spring game is played. By September, I and many of those here will be anxious to see what kind of team is put on the field. I know the best part is that there will be zero Nancys next season. Fo me, that is a big plus.
