Post Superbowl Morning Thread

ARLINGTON TX - FEBRUARY 06: Aaron Rodgers #12 of the Green Bay Packers leads his team onto the field prior to Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium on February 6 2011 in Arlington Texas. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

I went through over 1,000 photos to find this one with Graham Harrell in it.  Congrats to Graham for persevering and to the Harrell family. You can get your Superbowl news at the SB Nation mothership.

In other news, there is relatively no news.  The men's basketball team does not play until Saturday so they essentially have a bye this week and play the Aggies on Saturday.  We will be starting up the position-by-position look at the roster later this morning.

So now 2 Leach QB’s have rings as backups right? Didn’t Kingsbury get one with the Pats? I could be wrong here.

I was able to track down the Chrysler commercial.

We had discussed it last night.

122 seconds of Detroit telling me how awesome it is. (Wait, what?)
122 seconds of Super-Bowl-advertising-rate, likely not privately funded. (I wonder?)

5 seconds of socialist imagery (0:30-0:35) with the closed fist and “workers murals.”
And the hometown kid saying “This is Detroit and this is what we do.”

Indeed!

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

Lastly-what are they really up to with this commercial?

Fixing America, of course. With Italian cars, built by the UAW.
Italian Go-carts with a windshield and a lawnmower engine.
Just what we always needed.

Oh, and they also showed several clips what LOOKS to be a new Chrysler Sebring, (YIPEE! right?) since they couldn’t actually show the 200 the Superbowl- people would point and laugh at the overgrown golf cart that is the Chrysler 200
(Actually a FIAT 500)
(Link above is to the older one, but it is the same idea today.)

I have my doubts that they were truly sending the message they had intended to with that commercial, and people will likely think it over and see right through it. I don’t anticipate the cars to sell much volume either- no more than any others in that size.

In conclusion- the whole thing was very, very questionable.

TTAC has an atricle expanding on it, with Video, for those of us who use AM radio for our sports. For reference:

I was incorrect above.

Further research indicates that the 200 very well might be what we would normally call a Sebring.

From my (unreliable) speed reading

I was going to guess this one now that I know what it is (200) was a 15 year old Mercedes resurrected, however: The data I have seen points to Mitsubishi, but who knows, it still might be a FIAT, so your guess is as good as mine! Hah!

As to the error above I had the idea that Chrysler was going to have a tiny car be the next big thing – and I was sure that this was the point of the exercise… or not.

Super Bowl Rings

Donny Anderson has two from #I & #II with the Packers. Anderson played in #I and started in #II. Congrats to Graham. Nothing like being in the right place. Notice that the Pack is beginning to look more like a Tech style offense with limited running.

Thanks Seth for dredging up the Harrell picture.

E. J. Holub has a SB ring also.

He missed out in the Chief’s loss in SB I but got one after the win in SB IV. I remember the Sports Illustrated cover after the latter showing E. J. in his battered helmet and muddy uniform about to center the ball to Len Dawson. As I recall, E. J. played both center and linebacker in SB I but played only offense in SB IV. Perhaps other memories are better than mine.
