2. Did the Pac-12 upstage the Big 12's TV deal? - Big 12 Blog - ESPN and New Leader of the Pac " FRANK THE TANK’S SLANT | Ubben and Frank the Tank talk quite a bit about the new Pac-12 deal and I think they are both worth your time if you haven't already read them.
3. Future Texas Tech basketball player selected for all-star game | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal | Congrats to Toddrick for being selected for this game!
4. Red Raiders' wide receivers/tight end outlook: Tech adds tight ends to mix | College Sports Blog | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | The Dallas Morning News | The DMN has the longest links in the business. I think that this position and defensive line, are the toughest ones to try to predict where players will be moving forward. Lots of potential newcomers that could make an impact for receivers and the defensive line. Part of my thought is that we just don't know how TE Jace Amaro will be worked into the offense and how quickly he can adjust. In watching the spring game, there wasn't just a ton of tight end personnel on the field and last year, the only tight end that saw any significant time was Chris Olson, mainly as a blocking tight end. I'm also unsure how quickly that Marcus Kennard can make an impact, even though I do believe that this team needs a threat on the outside. I'm hoping that he's that threat and if so, then I think this offense will be pretty good.
5. ESPN won’t mess with Texas’ right to fire ESPN employees from Longhorn Network - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF Blog - Yahoo! Sports and The Longhorn TV Network: What Kind Of Commentary Do We Want? - Burnt Orange Nation and Homerism Clause In Longhorn ESPN Contract? | Barking Carnival | Woot! Homerism!
6. Tech confident tier-one status still attainable | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal | From my brief reading of this article, it appears that any university seeking Tier 1 status must have this HB 1000 pass in this legislative session.
7. Letter From Dept of Justice to NCAA on BCS and Department Of Justice Sends Letter To NCAA Regarding Why BCS And Not A Playoff System - Mountain West Connection and Justice Department is asking more questions about the BCS, but who has the answers? - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF Blog - Yahoo! Sports | I cannot fathom how the BCS is so danged powerful that it takes an inquiry from the Department of Justice.

11. Woody's Mailbag: Outlandish rumors about how the Broncos are going to fill defensive gaps - The Denver Post | I know that Woody is on some ESPN show and I know he's been in the Denver area forever, but he throw out DT Colby Whitlock as a possible rookie free agent once the lockout is lifted.

ESPN will be assigning college interns to work the Longhorn Network
It will be the least watched channel in the ESPN universe. If Daddy Deloss complains, so what. Hire another intern. There are 50k plus right there on campus & the ones studying journalism will work for nothing. ESPN will be happy to oblige them.
I haven’t heard the term “Blueshirt” in college football. But if a player is ever known as a Blackshirt, expect trouble. Those are almost always fascists.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows
Tier 1 is the most important part of today's news.
Above everything else Texas Tech has ever tried to accomplish, this is the most critical to growth and sustainability. Please contact your legislators to advocate on behalf of your university.
+ a Bazillion Gazillion!!!!
If you are like me, and generally not prone to do this kind of thing, now would be one of those rare times that I would ask you to consider breaking from your usual form.
The importance of reaching Tier 1 can not be over stated. The manner in which it will allow Tech to leap forward on multiple levels can not be delivered so easily in any other fashion. It may take another 75 years to get to the same level that this legislation will catapult us to, if we end up having to do it on our own.
Unfortunately, our congress structured this in such away that they can play “keep away” perpetually if they feel they can get away with doing so unscathed. This potential great thing is left hanging in the balance due to the nature of politics. Given the opportunity to be buried, we may never be able to seize the momentum to get this thing going again, for all we know. Maybe we could, but it is a huge risk. At a minimum it pushes everything back 2 years. And again, considering the nature of politics, hearing from constituents is the most powerful tool we have at out disposal at this time. They do listen to impassioned numbers.
Please, if you believe that Tech belongs with the most respected universities in the country – contact your legislatures as soon as you possibly can, by any means you feel comfortable, and let them know this is important to you.
Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to my senate rep:
Senator Carona -
I am writing to advise you of the great amount of interest that myself and my fellow alumni from Texas Tech University have in HB 1000 that is now, apparently, stalled in committee. The University of North Texas Alumni base is similarly engaged. I know you understand how important the matter is to not only the individual universities involved, but also to the image of the State of Texas as well. Please know that the great number of Tech alumni in the Dallas area (the same group that will more than guarantee that Craig James never, ever holds the US Senate seat that Ms. Hutchison is leaving) are very interested in how this unfolds and love our university very much. We are counting on you to use your considerable knowledge and skill to help persuade your fellow senators on the Senate Higher Education Committee to find an equitable way to push this through as quickly as possible so that it gets put to a vote before the current term expires.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Well done....

Shocked . . . shocked I say.
“In watching the spring game, there wasn’t just a ton of tight end personnel on the field and last year, the only tight end that saw any significant time was Chris Olson, mainly as a blocking tight end.”
Obviously you are forgetting about the untapped talent of Adam (aka Tinkerbell) James.
(sarcasm)
I’m hoping Amaro can cacth on quickly and that the coaching staff does an effective job of integrating him into the offense.
The talk about tight end is compelling even without seeing one used to any degree to date.
We know we have some guys on roster who have ability to play the position, big guys, transfer types…I guess they are not ready…or perhaps the coaches are not ready, jiminy it is not that hard to run a big guy out onto the field, the position cannot be that difficult to learn…I think there is some holding back going on with something significant on offense, some kind of mix between a run oriented tight end offense—perhaps kind of like we saw Missouri run with much success, and the best version of the OC’s Air Raid.
I think they practice it some during the regular season as they develop and adjust the scheme and gather the people to execute it—when it is ready with people and good execution, we will see it. Most Big12 defenses will be surprised and we will have an edge for a while.

I had a good friend of mine in the Land Arts program this past fall
He absolutely loved it, it’s a great program

UT Network
The article, if all is based on fact, shows exactly how egocentric the horns are. No university should have as much power as does UT. It is dangerous on so many levels. As far as I am concerned, UT is exactly what should NOT be, and there are administrators from nine teams walking around right now without spines (trying to keep it clean here). The one thing I feel is sure: UT will meet Our Maker and sufer greatly at His hands when the time comes. So, basically, I feel they continue to stab themselves in the heart every time they “make a deal”, or for that matter, every time they open their mouths. Do I disapprove of UT and all they do? It really doesn’t matter as it is He who is disapproving, and that is what matters.

Can Colby Whitlock stiff the UFL team he just signed with?
Or did he just get drafted by them and is waiting on NFL?
