Doege

is the biggest unknown aspect of our team… OK… I’ll say a healthy tie between Doege and the defense. However, he seems like a great person and leader. That does go a long way. Especially for a quarterback.

He is my choice for surprise player in the Big-XII-2

No one person has as many question marks to answer as does Seth Doege. I think he not only answers them, he does so emphatically.

He's already in grad school with 2 seasons of eligibility left

At that pace be may get his MD before his scholarship runs out. Graduating in 3 1/2 years is a good sign of a disciplined character.

That kid’s got some discipline and some fight in him! Having overcome two season-ending knee injuries in high school and going on to play QB at Tech shows me that Doege’s got “some guts in his body”-as Bear Bryant would say. If he’s accomplished what he has so far, I think we’re in GOOD hands. Way to go, Seth Doege!

Well...

he’s torn both knees, not one twice. And to be honest, their probably stronger now than they were before the tears. He’s had 4 solid years of rehab, not to mention div.1 trainers who know how to deal with this sort of thing. I have full confidence in him health-wise

Now whether or not he can stay focused and not let himself get overly excited at this opportunity is a different story. But he seems to have discipline and a great deal of character, which says alot for the young man.

Good luck this season Seth, and Wreck ’em Tech!

Ah I was thinknig it was the right one twice

I would hope and assume that since they were separate and around four years ago that they would have had time to completely heal by now. I feel more comforable about this now.

They would have blown out by now...

Right? 4 years of practice at Div 1 level is a good test of the knees. However, a direct helmet to knee shot could down any QB.

He doesn't even

wear his knee braces any more!

Is it possible to tear the same acl twice?
I know he probably has strong knees now but…
Could be his running style or the way he plants his foot that could cause re-injury. Just saying

I wish theywould spend more time and give us more insight on these flash news stories;

I appreciate the article but news flash, we all know that he hasn’t started a game since his high school season, we all know he has two acl tears, we all know he already graduated, we all know he is the key to our offesne. It would be great these bloggers could get more in depth. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad Doege is getting mention. But come on man, give us some insight.

On another note, I have a daughter who had two acl surgeries. In her case, her knees were stronger and she never had another problem. But, you do hear about players who have to go back for second replacements. At this level, I am hopeful that our training staff has him ready to go.

From all I have read, Doege is a great kid, and I am hopeful that he will be another in a great QB run at Tech. I am so thankful that the scheulde gives him a chance to get three very winnable games to start the season before we start conference games.

I am counting the days.

"I feel sorry for the guys," Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "They fought hard tonight. We didn't look good on offense or defense at times, and at times we looked pretty good. It's just, I don't know. Weird game.

Bad luck is not having a good QB...

I hope Seth lights up the board and is exceptional. Its his time and he has overcome much to this point. TT’s offensive fortunes rest on his shoulders.

He's going to do very good things

Being the Tech fan I am, I tend to see things through scarlet and black tinted glasses.

I fully expect Tech to take a leap forward from last year’s awkward offense transition. Watching Doege my opinion is he seems very natural moving into position in the pocket. He seems to have a nice touch on the ball. Ball leaves his hand like a kid who has thrown a million passes. Lots of backyard ball played by this one. A more catchable ball translates into more 3rd down conversions.

If you think about it, he and Karam had more reps with a new offense last spring due to injuries to Potts and Sheffied.

Doege is an easy young man to pull for. Here’s hoping this young man’s perseverance delivers him a couple of nice seasons as a reward for his hard work.

I think Doege is ready to pick up where former gunslingers left off,

and I’m not concerned about his ACL surgery. I do have a MAJOR concern about the ability of the O Line to protect him. Potts took a huge beating at times last season, and as the Defensive Coordinators around the league have had time to figure out Neals play calling, I’m hearing we should expect to see them “release the dogs”… Neal has to figure out a way to get pressure on the D with a legit downfield threat, and the line has to play like a team or we’ll be picking Doege up off the turf a lot.

Doege will be a very good quarterback because he is a leader.

I agree, if he leads us to 9 wins he should be the “newcomer” of he year. I think he is way under thr radar and that makies him a perfect Texas Tech QB. If the OL stays healthy, we will light up the scoreboards again like we used to. Wreck’em, Seth.
