Fox: TAMU on the way to the SEC
The words "amicable divorce" were reportedly used by a number of presidents on the call.
(Looks like this is going to happen next week. I think the Aggies are shooting themselves in the foot. Short sided decisions made in a hurry...yeah, that's a good plan.)

"It is done."
I think those words have been spoken before, with the original version more meaningful than all of the others combined could ever be. But, as it relates to this particular occurance, all I can say is: “Bye, bye, A&M.” We won’t miss a beat without you. Yes, there is a great historical part of this that will suffer, but ultimately Tech and the rest of the Big 12 will be fine, whether as a part of the same conference or splintered into several other conferences. In another five years, all things Big 12 will be a distant memory, much like those memories of the old Southwest Conference. Most important for Texas Tech is that our beloved leaders will do what is best for Texas Tech, because no one else will show any real concern for Tech. As a result, I am somewhat nervous when contemplating whether or not our administration and regents are really capable of doing what they need to to ensure the best case scenario for the Red Raider Nation. All we fans, alums and students and faculty can do is hope and pray that Tech’s leaders will do us all well.

Which beloved leaders?
Most important for Texas Tech is that our beloved leaders will do what is best for Texas Tech
hance beloved? hance a leader?
I don’t see any leadership at Tech right now and it is desperately needed.

Hance and our brass are doing more than you think...
They just dont announce it to the world like eATMe.
At least this is what I hope… :)
Without getting into a struggle about how many people like KH and GB,
you have to know that the Chancellors, presidents and AD of all universities are going to fight like hell for what is best for their school, because their jobs, salaries, and their legacy depend on it too. You may hate them as people, or dislike the way they did their job in the past, or distrust them now. But right now they are going to have more say-so in the future of Tech athletic and academic success than almost anyone else. We need to hope and pray they will do a great job. If we weren’t riding these horses across a raging river, then a change might benefit some. Right now, stability and strength seem to be good qualities to have if trying to look our best and get asked to dance at the prom.
We're better off now than last year
Tech is in a far better situation now, on the brink of A&M leaving than last year as NU and CU left. A&M is not powerful enough to cause a domino effect—only Texas or OU can do that. A&M can be replaced, in fact the Mizzou blog is stating “unnamed sources” say Big12 has a bid on the table to BYU if A&M leaves and they are primed to accept. Hance, Bailey and MU and KU people have all been quoted as saying B12 aggressively pursuing bigtime expansion schools. Texas has more power in the B12 than any other venue so they have a vested interest in keeping the B12 a thriving moneymaker.Texas doesn’t need the Aggie rivalry—they need the OU rivalry. A&M needs the Texas rivalry—their whole football tradition [and song] is built around it. Somehow, “Saw the razorbacks horns off…” doesn’t quite make it. No, I don’t see the B12 powers-that-be allowing the B12 to fail.
But…if it did and the same scenario as last year resurrected—PAC12expansion east—Tech is a lock. Last year with PAC10—we were quite questionable—if Texas went and brought Tech along, we were in, otherwise questionable. We balked—PAC took CU and Utah-and Tech’s odds for future PAC12-16 expansion consideration have blossomed. It is no longer a West Coast league—Lubbock is closer to CU, UU,ASU UA and Los Angeles, than any of the Oregon/Washington schools. Also, our fate is no longer tied exclusively to UT—the retiring of G. Meyer and the hiring of K. Hocutt as Tech AD changed that. Forget Hocutt’s Miami tenure, the important part of that hire is that for years he was at OU—he considers OU AD Castiglione his “mentor” and close friend; they are working together in a way Myer couldn’t even comprehend. Add to the mix TBone Pickens expansive holding in West Texas and his friendships with Hance et. al. and you have a very real and influential troika of OU, OSU, Tech, that most certainly could command admission into the PAC regardless of what UT does. And remember—Hance is a politician—and a very effective one—when it comes to this sort of wheeling and dealing don’t sell him short. What makes Tech look good makes him look good—and this would make him look very good indeed.
BYU really does not excite me
I have a feeling I’m going to be entirely underwhelmed when this is all said and done.

At least BYU has female cheerleaders
More exciting than a bunch of male yellleaders throwing gang signs to the music of 200 military-outfitted “Band Queers.” Not to mention the skiing around Provo is pretty good during football/basketball seasons.
Amicable divorce = free at last, free at last !!
We all thank TAMU for doing what is best for the State of Texas !!!
Surely some Texas patriot will erect a great statue in honor of Loftin.
