Well,

that just plain sucks. Guess we’ll only get limited time out of some of our best linemen before their careers are done at Tech, specifically Mackey and Scott Smith.

How does this happen?

I cannot recall this type of injury bug at Tech. And his lung was injured? What did the TSU defense do, beat him up under a pile up? Something ain’t right in Denkark, guys. The staff had better get a handle on this before we lose a whole bunch of players.

Don't seem to remember such injuries

when Bennie Wiley was S&C coach. Just saying.

dont you mean.....

injuries where not reported or handled properly. Ask Crabtree how his foot is doing.

just because injuries were not talked about during the "missing 10 years" of texas tech football

it certainly does not mean that they were not addressed properly and handled expertly with the best medical help possible. If you know for a fact that crabtree’s continued foot injury is due to malpractice or inattention, pleaes enllighten us.

2+2=4

no ding on leach but at some point you got to say something was not handled right if he keeps hurting the same injury over and over.

That is a scary condition.

Does he have asthma? That has happened to my daughter, but when she was much younger. If this is as serious as it seems, he may have a tough decision to make soon. Football is secondary to life. Prayers are out to him. his family and team mates. I hope he will be able to return, though. He has so much talent and I would really like to see him play again.

Collapsed lungs can happen spontaneously due to a defect in the lining of the lung (bleb) suddenly giving way, or they can happen from trauma. I’m sure all the beating these guys take doesn’t help. May have been a combination of the two. The age is about right. Way before I was ever around, my father had a couple of spontaneous collapses at about the same age as Mackey.

That is a pretty dangerous thing to have....

I pray that it heals completely, more for Mackey than for anything about football.
