Happy New Year! Open Thread

SAN DIEGO, CA - DECEMBER 31: Motorcycle rider Robbie Maddison jumps 378 feet, 9 inches and Snowmobile rider Levi LaVallee jumps 412 feet, 6 inches to both break the current jump during the Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. in San Diego, California. (Photo by Donald Miralle/Getty Images)

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope everyone is safe and sound.

Obviously, no college football games today, but if you want to talk about the NFL games, then consider this your open thread.

And this made me sports-cry:

That jump was pretty much the most awesome thing ever.

Happy New Year everybody!

The jump itself was pretty cool

That’s a long damn way to fly. But I skipped all the drama and BS before and after.

Happy New Year!

I spent mine watching fire fighters put out a big grass fire at Lantana Golf Club because drought + moron + fireworks = excitement.

Got my xmas lights down

and then took the wife out for dinner and had a free glass of champagne.

Simple rule of thumb: Everything before the but is BS.

As weird as this sounds,

I thought it would be cool if he started Law School and continued to play football in the college ranks.

Starting the new year off right

While we celebrated and enjoyed a family get together for the last of 2011, I have started 2012 this morning in a good way. I completed reading "Double-T/ Doublecross. I must say that what we have read here on DTN was very informative and this book only lent a few new things to the equation.

As we of DTN and Red Raider Nations move forward with hopes of getting back into the top rung of college football, I still am in hopes that those responsible for dragging, not only Mike Leach, but all of Red Raiderdom into a black abyss, will, by year’s end get exactly what is justifiably coming to them for their actions. Leach landed and will regain his footing, albeit in the great Northwest and not on the South Plains.

Tuberville has, it appears, rectified his errors of surrounding himself with unproven talent and is moving to bring in someone that has a great deal more experience on the defensive side of the ball. I hope this results in a much improved defense and an ptick for the offense as Tech gets back to where we all can feel much more comfortable and excited. By all accounts, in 2012 Texas Tech will be ripe for a welcome return to favor here and across the country.

I think the only detail in Double T Double Cross that was new to me was the "Life & Death Situation" phone call

When Craig James called Kent Hance at a wedding in San Antonio & told him he had to call back immediately because it was a life & death situation.

What a drama queen.

hmmmm

Make that Perry (re: A&M) and UT (re: Chip Brown). Funny thing, with A&M leaving for the SEC, now Chip and UT are left to fend against interlopers of their “kingdom” alone. Too bad our leadership is so unworthy. Tech could benefit big time right now.

Two good books

“Double T, Double Cross” and “Swing your Sword.” Am in the middle of reading both. Still, we got a lot details following DTN that weren’t available to followers of more “party line” friendly websites. Good job by Seth of allowing the debates and investigations to go on.

Is it really New Year's Day?

I’m watching the Chiefs and the Broncos instead of the Rose Bowl…that is so wrong.

I’m glad I have tomorrow off. There are a bunch of bowl games many people will miss (including my girlfriend). Her school district has a staff development day and mine is off.

Get your kicks, on route 66...

Happy New Year, Seth!

Hope you and your family have a great one, and that they and this little DTN “playpen” (and all us naughty kiddos) bring you joy in 2012. I do think there will be lots of stuff happening with TTU athletics in the next 12 months, so “getcha popcorn ready!”

Or maybe

If Aaron Rodgers is a system QB, I guess that means the Packers system is about being good…

I hate Aaron Rogers because of how he acted before the holiday bowl.
I love figjam
It’s the most fitting name for him.
Happy new year and I’m pissed I have to work tomorrow during the new college new years bowl day. What a joke.

We ripped Cal a new one in that bowl

So I’m ok with him, but my wife hates his cocky arse.

Our family loves Aaron Rodgers,

my son even does the TD dance. You can’t knock on a guy that went about football the way he did. He’s good. Not implying that Plano Jeff did, just saying…

I am so disappointed in Glasgow. I really thought he would change our Defense.

I sure wish someone could have had Glasgow quotes before he calmed down. Other than Allegedly Dirty Recruiting, I hope this guy finds a new home. All is not well in the Tommy Tech House.
