The Big 12 hopes West Virginia resolves issues by Feb. 1
From Mike Graham of Dallas Morning News and RedRaiderSports.com
Guy Bailey believes the Big East lawsuit will be complete by Feb 1 so the Big 12 Directors can make a 2012 football schedule on Feb 2. I don't believe the lawsuit goes away that fast without a large amount of cash changing hands.

Yup
Lawsuits are about Leverage and cost benefit.
For the right benefit the Big East will release their leverage.
My guess is the Big East is making a big deal because they dont want to set a precedent, that their members are basically worth X $

Blaze a trail, spend some time in West Texas, feel the sand sting your skin and burn your eyes, let the winter dry your hands, learn that its there only because our ancestors didn’t want to be around other people … that’s West Texas
I think they get it done...
and West Virginia makes it in for 2012.

Is this a pretty big deal?
When A&M first threatened its move to the SEC, everyone was up in arms because the move meant that the Big XII would fall below ten members…which, from what i remember reading, supposedly would void the conference’s TV contract. Well, WVU is team ten, if they aren’t eligible that problem is back…this should be a bigger story right now, I’m thinking.

Why was ATM and mizzou let go so easily? Seems like the big 12 should have held the teams until they had them replaced
Get your kicks, on route 66...
at that time the XII had no leverage, only a simple buyout, (which as well with Nebraska) the only real recourse the conference could take was witholding the departing schools final year’s worth of payout.
So they “settle” for whatever that amount calculates to be and its done. Then Kansas and Iowa State let their money get split up between the big three XII schools to keep them in the conference.

TV -10
Your right and the Big East probably has a good idea of what that is worth to the XII and they probably want all of it.

The Big East is digging in for a fight.
WVU can’t leave without 27 month notice and the Big East says it is not about the money (means it is about the money). I don’t think the Big 12-4+1+? is going to finalize this by next Wednesday.
How much money will it take for WVU to get out in time for 2012?
$10 million? $20 million? $40 million?
How much did A&M and MO pay to leave?
Where does the payoff money come from (WVU or Big 12)?
more stuff

If West Virginia does jump next season, legal experts have said there’s a likelihood the school will pay substantial financial damages. Interim Big 12 Conference Commissioner Chuck Neinas was asked if the Big 12 has considered helping the school cover such damages. “That’s an internal matter for our board of directors to decide,” Neinas said.
The board of directors consists of the Big 12’s school presidents and chancellors. When asked if the issue of financial relief to WVU is an agenda item before the board, Neinas said “that’s a matter that’s internal in nature.”
Neinas said he’s concerned the Big 12 could get dragged into WVU’s legal battle with the Big East via an amended lawsuit. “Sure,” he said. “That’s always a possibility.”
