Direction of Texas Tech
Disucssed Commercialization of Technology and encourage patents and copyrights for TTU and the goal is to make "cold hard cash" from ideas at Tech.
We have some start up companies from the ideas at Tech.
Some things being worked on now is: Cancer drugs, "fracking", wind technology. Other exciting stuff too.
Raised 184 million in 2011.
"My hope is that everyone gives to Texas Tech". Suggests students get a graduate degree too. "For homework, we'll work pirate maneuvers and stuff like that."

We might as well focus on world solutions, because our athletic teams are becoming a thing of the past.
Wonder where we will finish this year in the all sports Big 12 trophy.
"Oh, yeah. We don't even talk about Bowls much. We're so far away from being a team right now that can have a chance to compete in a Bowl." HC Tommy Tuberville.
Hopefully Tech is more focused on its standing as a school
than a football team…

My heart tells me this is heresy. My brain agrees.
11/12/11...66-6...I once was blind, but now I see.
Would be nice if they could focus on both....
Maybe next fall the family and I will drive up and go hang out in the new Rawls building…

New Directions
More responses to the color of a helmet then the real progress TTU is making where it really counts. Donate more and be proud.
This is a sports blog...
…not an academic blog that I know of…so it’s no surprise to me that there are more responses on a sports related issue. Don’t forget that athletic programs are/can be/should generate a lot of revenue for universities.
Although I do enjoy hearing about these updates too.
Who ate your bowl of sunshine this morning, thundercloud?
Unfortunately sports does not generate more than they spend.
In most cases. UT and a few other schools actually make money in athletics but most cost the university money. Of course keep in mind that this is what I was “told” in my sport management class in college.

If you lump all sports together then you are correct. Football at Tech does generate revenue and supports many of the non-revenue sports.
Simple rule of thumb: Everything before the but is BS.

Yes, I was lumping them as a whole.
Sorry, I should have clarified.
I also found a really cool link with database information.

Just put in the school you want to look at.

My two cents, if we’re all okay criticizing the administration, then I think I’m okay with someone posting about the progress that TTU is making and is appreciative of that. I’d prefer to keep it to athletics, but I think it would be unfair not to allow both points of view.

You could not be more right
I for one will be willing to take out a loan, get a second job, maybe even pick up some “night work” (mmm…maybe not…#remember the 5) to raise funds for donations.
Who ate your bowl of sunshine this morning, thundercloud?
wishful thinking
but a real governor with a real pair that would actually give a shit about something besides paybacks would begin appointing new bor and get a new chancellor that actually knows how to chancel.
