RP is a joke
Seth, I'm sorry but that place is a joke. They call out people who criticize the current coach yet trash the former coach because he couldn't recruit. Well you know what the former coach only had 1 losing season in conference. The current one has a 2 year losing streak as well and 1 overall losing season.
That place doesn't want posters, they want sunshine pumpers who will praise Tuberville. I'm sorry, I can't do that. Not with the record he has produced so far. I don't know why I even bother reading that site. I guess I'm glutton for punishment.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

wow. had no idea that CJ allegedly called Tech coaches
from the booth while he was calling the game and asking the coaches to play Adam more.

Now that...
is some mighty fine journalism.
Who ate your bowl of sunshine this morning, thundercloud?
Yea, nothing is perfect. Trust me, I’m sure I’ve run off my fair share of people (a lot of the initial moderators of this site don’t comment or post here any more if that’s any indication) and some people don’t like the way that I do things. I think the biggest difference that I can tell is that they’ll lock threads that they feel don’t need to be discussed with the thought that they’ll go away and I don’t think that solves anything. I’ve had to lock one thread in about 4 years (that’s a guess). My thought is that you need to let people talk it out otherwise it’s going to get worse. I really don’t know if that’s the right way or wrong way to do it and I don’t think there really is a right or wrong way, it’s just different.
Go Raiders . . .

You do pretty well, at least you haven’t banned me yet.

I really only ban people when there seems to be a disconnect on what I think we mostly expect and conduct. I don’t like banning people and I don’t like the idea of having to say, “if you don’t do X, then I’m going to ban you.” I did it last week, but I was pretty fed up with the back-and-forth. It’s heavy-handed and I personally don’t enjoy doing that.
Go Raiders . . .

You are very patient
In many heated threads you remind folks to be civil, whereas I lock stuff on the forums I administer.
So thanks for letting us hash it out.

Yes
Yeah, you are correct. They hope that tubby’s 5-12 record will go away but it won’t and if you bring it up, you are called a Leacher/tubby hater and a “Non-Tech” fan.

DTN is SOOOO much better
DTN isn’t perfect by a long shot, but when you go over to RP you see what a mess a site can turn into.
As long as you dont name call people
And dont insult the current staff, my experience is that RP would let you post anything within these constraints. But once you cross the line, they are quick to enforce.
by jef on Jan 26, 2012 5:40 PM CST via mobile reply actions
Not from my experience
They have a small vocal minority that are allowed to trash the former coach, yet when the other side defends him, the threads are locked or deleted. They also have a small vocal minority that wants the owner to ban anyone that doesn’t sip the tuBS kool aid. Some paying members have either cancelled or in the process of stopping their membership if he doesn’t start banning people that voice their criticism of tubby. They say RRS is better which is I also think is complete joke.
Just take at look at the “Thank Good” thread. Seth, sorry but I had vent about the censorship on that site. Thank you for allowing us to post here.

I suggest going on that site and out sunshine pump them to an absurd level. Talk about how we will win the NC next year and how superior tuBS is compared to any coach in the country. You can even pump up hancy pants and his building of Tech into the Harvard of the south.

RP....
sometimes lets a thread go on between name-callers for 5-7 pages at a time before they lock it down. And, yes, there are some sunshine-pumpers who will jump on any dissent just like the folks at Pravda did back in the day. I will give the RP folks some props, though—t used to be a LOT worse. I would see guys cussing each other out and insulting their mothers (I’m not making this up!) for pages and pages, once even seeing where a guy threatened to pull another guys head out of cyberspace and beat his * up. Even once saw an active pornographic link posted! RP is pretty lowbrow, but it’s been cleaned up quite a bit.
also,
doesn’t Rice U have the “harvard” designation? i’ve heard that before.

this thread
presents a good opportunity for me to mention that my intermediate accounting 2 prof is a complete and utter koolaider. he made fun of team leachers the other day. He said “oh no, now we gonna get all them team leachers comin out.” in his real thick good ole boy accent. i sit on the very front row since I have ADD pretty good. fortunately i’ve decided to keep my mouth shut, since he’s actually a really cool professor at the same time who will meet with you at the drop of a hat to help you. good ole west texas feller, but alas he’s been at the university so long he’s an unrecoverable koolaider i’m afraid. he was like, “there’s lots of stuff you guys don’t know that I know” . in the meantime i’m allowing myself to be force-fed koolaid a little bit because of freaking sweet awesome badass and amazing new Rawls College of Beeswax
by Jameson Vernon on Jan 26, 2012 11:26 PM CST reply actions
You couldn't
just politely ask him to stick to teaching accounting? :-)
This whole, “there’s lots of stuff you guys don’t know..” crap ticks me off. Either spill or shut your mouth. What do they think the reaction is going to be to that statement? “Oh, okay, well if you say so, I will shut off my independent thinking and take your unverified word for it, thanks.”
Who ate your bowl of sunshine this morning, thundercloud?
i like where you're coming from Austin,
and I agree totally. however my thinking currently is that since I’m 26 and still an undergrad, I’ll defer in favor of finally earning a B.S. Finance this year or early next. sounds kind of ironic, but I’m beginning to get impatient on that particular thing!

yah i dunno,
i found out another thing about him about how close he is to it all. he probably speaks with Tubs and Admins regularly. no joke. especially AD. but I don’t want to say his exact position cause I’ve probably said enough. And in terms of academics, he really is on the Students’ side. I had a two hour conversation with him in his office the other day, one on one. so aside from the ludicrous athletic stuff, he’s won me over. Therefore that’s another reason I’ve chosen to just go about my business

Koolaider beats having that drunk
I had in 1969 in my 7:30 Economics class in the Business Auditorium. His favorite saying was “Me and Jack Daniels made out this test.” He said he graded by the Bell curve, but actually he passed or flunked us by which section we were sitting in. I picked the back section to sit in on the first day. and found out that wasn’t a favorite section of his
goodness gracious,
what ridiculousness. this was 1969? dang that’s when the now “old rawls” building was brand new! cool we have that in common. you were in a brand new building, and now I get to experience that as well. be sure to make a trip up to see it if you haven’t. Anyways, profs like that are completely self absorbed and hate themselves, in my opinion, for not being able to “make it” in the real business world. It’s plenty easy to make a freakin test based on the material and let the ones who actually did work get good grades, and the ones who did no work get bad grades. simple as that. all the other crap is highly uncalled for, in my opinion. such is life i guess…..
by Jameson Vernon on Jan 28, 2012 5:28 PM CST up reply actions
Yes, it was 1969 and
the Business Auditorium was new. It was kind of a shocker for me being a kid who came from a small West Texas school to being in an Economics class that had 1200 students in it. Where ever you sat the first day was your assigned seat. They had two photographers taking pictures of the sections and if there was a warm body in your seat, you were present. Also class registration was not computerized back then and they drew lots on which day you could register. I drew the 3rd day as a freshman which meant most classes you needed in a particular time slot were all ready filled and had to resort to making out umpteen schedules, and taking some classes like geology in order to have a full schedule. Registration was held in the gym and you had to make a schedule, find the table the class prof was at and then see if he had a class card for that particular time slot. If he didn’t, you had to go back and make another schedule out , then start the process all over again. Took me 6 hours that day to put together a workable schedule. Guess those were the good old days.
Not really the good old days. Glad that that way of registering is gone for good.
I did the same, and it was even harder at San Antonio College with over 20,000 students at the time.

Well, not to defend RP, but most of the threads they lock are either duplicates of other threads recently posted or the conversation degenerates to Leach v. Tuberville. They have a LOT more active posters than we do here so it’s a bigger job for the admins to moderate, for sure. The path of least resistance is to lock it down if it smells of trouble.
It’s still a low hanging fruit board, though, and most of the people there are only trying to incite an argument a lot of the time. Not very interesting, to be honest.

I don't post there...only venture over when we're waiting for "news" of some sort to see if they'd heard anything.
I quit posting there about the same time I joined here. I only have energy for one Tech diversion.

Looks like they
are clearing out some posters before National Signing Day so that no one talks about tuBS horrible record, his hiring of some pretty awful coaches and his less than stellar coaching ability.

I noticed that!
Some of the posters the “sunshine pumpers” dislike are missing in action. Looks like what was called a “purge” in the USSR days is in full swing. And to think some folks pay to be on that site—what a waste of money! If I want propaganda, I can go to the New China News Agency website (yes, they have an English version).
porpaganda in its finest fashion, let the americans read it.

Thank you!
I couldn’t resist a good pun—it was just there to be made. I love puns and limericks. I made limericks for all my neices and nephews during Christmas, and they enjoyed them.
I like RP for what I can get from there.
