WBB: Lady Raiders beat the Longhorns 75-71
With the win Texas Tech ends a five-game losing skid.
They also end a 5 game loss to UT over the last 2 years
Both Jordan Barncastle and Shauntal Nobles had double-doubles.
Barncastle had 19 points and 10 rebounds
Nobles had 11 points and 10 rebounds
All together 4 players were in double digits.
Christine Hyde had 11 points
Monique Smalls had 15 points and 5 steals
Casey Morris had 9 points
Chynna Brown had 4 points
Mary Bokenkamp had 6 points from crucial 3-pointers in the latter part of the 2nd half
FG% Tech 43.3% UT 44.8%
3-PT% Tech 35.3% UT 38.1%
FT% Tech 68.0% UT 73.3%
Points in the paint: Tech 34 UT 30
Points off turnovers: Tech 18 UT 18
2nd chance points: Tech 19 UT 5

Largest lead: Tech by 15 in the 1st half (8:25 min)
The Lady Raiders had a ton of energy and played cohesively and with focus.
Tech came out strong and stayed aggressive through the whole game.
This is the team we have seen and the one that fought their way into the rankings and stayed there for 10 weeks. (We will have to wait and see if they stay ranked.)
NOTE: Kierra Mallard did not play in this game and was not on the bench. She is still out on the undisclosed injury.
Bring on the Aggies (Wednesday night at the USA) !!!

I was hearing that Kierra was actually on the bench, and congratulated players at game’s end. Oh well, hope she gets better soon.
I can’t think of a better game for the Lady Raiders to win to break the losing streak than UT. Beating UT in any sport is good for what ails ’ya! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAWWWWWWWWWW! WAY TO GO, LADY RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might have been mistaken but I did not see her on the bench during the game
I might have missed her
I did not hear anything about Mallard except that she was not playing and they would be subbing in the other forwards to cover her position
And it was extremely great beating UT !!!
Now to beat the Aggies on Wednesday would be the icing on top.

Interesting win and one that we have been wanting badly.
We have ridden KM’s shoulders all season, she has been the key to many of our wins. She goes out, perhaps has been struggling earlier through part of the losing streak, and all of a sudden a player like Jordan Barncastle, who more often than not is more of a role player, steps up and makes great impact on the court.
Can Barncastle not do that game in and game out ??
Nobles stepped up nicely as well, she has been on the grow since her arrival at TTU, here is hoping this game in not a one-of.
Whatever the drama, I am so happy to see those ladies get a win. We really would look stronger as a team with some road wins.
