Rarely are documentaries objective in their subject matter portrayal. However, in this case; I don’t know how you could be objective and not make Tech look bad. What TTU did to the Captain was atrocious and hopefully illegal. I’m all for you and anyone else who inspires to illustrate to the masses what happened to Leach. It was chicken shit and Tech deserves a black eye for it. If you need opinions from Alumni I’d be happy to contribute. Good luck with your project should you choose to pursue it.
Ps. I’d support anything legal that leads to Bailey and Hance being ousted. Maybe even illegal depending on whether or not we could hide behind the sovereign immunity veil.

LOL
I do value opinions from the alumni, and I do value yours.
I don’t do documentaries. It would be a feature length film.
Tech does not deserve a black eye. Not a single student (with the exception of Adam James) or alumnus (with the exception of those in the administration) had anything to do with this.
I would tell the story from the perspective of Craig James’ involvement and would certainly not leave out the involvement of Hance, Bailey, the BOR, Spaeth, ESPN, and all others.
by RdRdr19881991 on Jan 8, 2012 7:13 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
Problem with that angle is that Craig James was used as a tool by the good old boys and the folks at Tech who were itching for a good reason to let Leach go. James just sort of fell into their laps and they capitalized on the opportunity.
If Hance, Meyers, Sowell, et al were thrilled with Leach, the whole Adam/Craig James thing would not have been more than a minor story leading up to the Alamo Bowl. Three weeks later, we would have all forgotten about it. But James knew about the discord within the powers the be towards Leach and he knew the incident would help oust a guy who wouldn’t play his son.

There's not enough of a story to do a feature length film, much less a documentary

I really wish none of this ever happened.
When I was at A&M getting my Masters every one knew I was a Tech fan. A few people were rude, but I would say about 99% of the Ags were very polite.
The one thing I noticed (and was jealous of) was how they all stood together. It was like they were all part of a large extended family.
I hope Tech can be like that some day.

If the story is told right with the right cast and production … this story has all the ingredients of compelling and commercially successful movie. After all, who would have thought about the formation of Facebook would have made an interesting enough story to make into a compelling movie?

The pictures posted on the other thread prove nothing. I could stand on a corner in NYC, have my picture taken and claim to be a Broadway actress. I’m not.
This guy commented on the other thread where his picture is posted saying he had hoped to say anonymous yet didn’t ask for his picture to be deleted. The thread could have been taken down if he was that concerned or I would guess it’s possible for Seth to delete a post, I don’t know. And how did that picture turn up in the first place?

Agree with LondonRaider.
Short answer = no.
I agree...given the scandals on college campuses that have come about since
the Leach thing, this is peanuts and pales in comparison. I don’t think, especially now that he’s got a new job, people care much at all about this story anymore. Except Tech fans, obviously.
11/12/11...66-6...I once was blind, but now I see.
I will say
I don’t know how many of you have ever watched episodes of Blue Mountain State on Spike TV, but they had a parody of this situation on one of their episodes. The dad’s name was something like Greg James, it was super obvious. It was hilarious and made the Craig James and Adam James characters look ridiculous.
ESPN Films!!!
If you are serious, I would consider getting with ESPN. Hell, HBO Sports might even consider it. Either way you go, you know it’s going to be produced well. As far as direction, that’s on you.
Even though Tech and it’s administrators might come off as idiots for the fiasco that was the Leach firing, adding in the element of the great “DOUCHE” Craig James and his daughter Nancy James would be a nice touch.
I think depending on which way you sway the film, will determine the publics opinion about our great university. I say full steam ahead. Any publicity – even negative is a positive.

There is certainly a compelling story to be told.
If you can assemble a team that can tell a good story, a cast of compelling actors, and all the support needed for production, I think it would be a blockbuster. This situation has all the elements of a great story: envy, power, insecurity, backstabbing, lying, cheating, railroading, tempers, conspiracy, self-inflated egos, powerful people hiding behind archaic and unjust law, etc.
Done the right way, it will be very gripping. It’s almost stranger than fiction.

That is a tough question
Personally, while I want dearly for all irrresponsible parties to be dealt with accordingly, the fact it could damage even more the reputation of my favorite school makes me want to say “No. Do not do this.” But, it will happen some day, so following through now would simply expedite the innevitable. What may be a reason to hesitate would be the fact that this case is not done in the courts, yet. Your movie, accurate though it might be, would, until the courts render a decision, be nothing more than speculation. Help or hurt, it would affect the case in some way. If you do go through with this, it may be in your best interests to wait until all is settled in the courts. If the ruling is in Leach’s favor, sales of the movie would be huge. If he fails, you fail. Your call. But, be aware that it your movie will have some kind of affect, good, bad or indifferent.

Thank You For Your Comments
I have been told by many people this has all the elements of a truly compelling story. Very little of it would have to do with Tech. The premise is how far someone will go to ruin someone either out of hatred or spite or greed or just to further one’s own interests. The fact that ESPN is so deeply involved gives it immediate traction.
There is also thematic relevance in that those who are paid to teach us the value of truth and honor do the exact opposite.
Truth is truly stranger than fiction. Years ago we never would have believed something like this could have happened in our tiny hamlet of Lubbock. Now it has been thrust upon the national stage.
My major objective is to show how resilient the students of a university can be when the adults steering the ship have sunk the boat. The students are the heroes. The students are standing up to those in charge and saying we are taking control of the situation. If the adults cannot act honorably then we can be the ones who teach them what honor and truth are about.
The students are saying this is our university and we will not allow you to tarnish the names of generations past, present, or future. This is our Alamo!

I love my University, so please do not take this the wrong way.
It is time for you to get up off your asses and tell the administration you have had enough!
It is time to tell the administration they cannot raise your tuition then waste your money.
It is time to tell the administration you will not tolerate their lying, cheating, or stealing.
It is time to tell the powers that be that you own the University, not them.

Here is a thought
However, my biggest concern is that it might hurt the school’s reputation
Isn’t the risk to TTU more a consequence of how a film portrays the institution ? For example, if the film portrayed the institution as the good that it is, it could add to the reputation.
That certain individuals did not hold the reputation of the institution high enough to protect its image as they went about their dealings is different and apart from the school itself. There are thousands of people who do good, real / valid good, in the name of TTU even as it may not be known the details of what they do or who they are.
The few that acted without honor are not the school, they are but well placed individuals.
Why couldn’t the above kind of perspective be taken so that the school is protected but the individuals are portrayed according to their behaviors and actions ?
Living large in Texas...Texas forever.
The Idea
The idea I had in mind was the portrayal of a school with such a determined and cohesive student body strong enough to say that no one, including the administration, is above adhering to a strict honor code.
How wonderful would it be for the student body to fire the Chancellor and the President? It would send a message of student empowerment to schools all across the country. That would earn Tech national respect among its peers.

Other than the Leach scandal
what else are people upset about with the administration? Genuine question, because as far as my knowledge reaches, nothing particularly unique comes to mind, and by unique, I mean other than the typical frustrations that go on with pretty much most universities, such as spending efficiency.
And that's the problem
Maybe I’m completely oblivious, but when people start complaining about the administration, all I hear about is Leach was cheated, Hance conspirators and so on but very little about works on academics or the status of the university in various other facets and how people view them. I understand this site is sports-oriented, clearly, however there seems to be far too much negativity towards the administration based solely on a football coach (not to undermine that specific situation, but there are not only many others things to pay attention to, but other more important things). I’m sure many people saw that fanshot just a few weeks back that linked us to Hance’s newsletter regarding progress in certain areas made by the university, and sure there was some spin that people identified, but nonetheless there was zero valid animosity (the invalid were all debunked) and the general direction people saw the university going was up. Now obviously I’m sure not everything going on with the university is exactly sunflowers and daisies but as I said earlier, I’m not aware of anything particularly, but more specifically, uniquely negative that people could be so upset about outside of this 2 year old Leach scandal.
And of course,
I’m always up to be proven wrong. So if anyone is able to help me be less ignorant, it would be appreciated.

Please research how donations have dropped to the football program since Leach was fired.
To be fair, overall, the school is doing well on donations.
The biggest issue of all, however, is how dishonestly Hance, Bailey, and others handled the affair.

IMO that was enough
The way Hance approached the Leach issue showed a lack of integrity and character. This is not a man I want associated with my university because of his shady tactics. He is a corrupt politician, and someone we do not need running our school. I for one could care less who is the football coach. I am more concerned with principles and ethics.

I could post a really long response here but the easiest way
Is to read the last chapter or two of Double T Double Cross and see it for yourself. Suffice it to say being less than honest on grant proposals to the state for education funds set aside for universities who employ certain caliber professors. Movie
I think it would be fantastic to make a movie of the Tech situation. Schools around the country need to know that they can’t do this to good people who have done nothing wrong, AND they need to obey the laws and rules.
This situation involved the breaking of laws AND the breaking of the SECS rules, an organization that has chosen to ignore that fact even when it was reported to them. Also, through the continued lies told by both Adam and Craig James AND the BoR AND Kent Hance, a good man’s name and reputation was tarnished badly. He couldn’t even get a job because schools were afraid of him since he was suing Tech. Of course he was suing Tech, because they had broken the law. Also, it had all of Mike’s assistant coaches scrambling for jobs and new places to live INCLUDING their families!!!! It was a gigantic mess!!! ALL because of lies and egos!!!!! Last, the damage that has been done to the fan base will not be repaired for many years. There were those fans who didn’t like what happened to Tech but wanted to move on. There were those fans who only believe the Tech Administration and BSPN and refused to believe any of facts out there, including documents from court depositions and published emails. But THEN there were the fans who were absolutely appalled at what was done to Coach Leach, the breaking of the laws, rules, etc., and that no one should be treated like he was by anyone, any institution, etc. For me, it had NOTHING to do with football but had EVERYTHING to do with principle!!! I’m one of those people who can’t watch a movie with an actor who has been so vocal about anti-Bush and anti-America. It I try to watch a movie with that mess, all I can hear and see is the bad stuff. So, I don’t go. I feel the same about Tech. I’m not able to get past the bad stuff that Hance and Co. have done to stay loyal to my school. I lost my school on December 29, 2009, and I am now a WSU Cougar where I will follow Mike Leach and his boys and his staff. I will enjoy learning about WSU, and I have already met some really nice people in Pirates of Palouse. John and I are planning to attend at least 4 games, maybe 5, creating a nice vacation amount the games to get to know the area/sightsee!!! I will attend a Tech game with John when he wants to go, but I will be wearing my Team Leach t-shirt. I would like for ALL of this to come out into the open to REALLY educate people as to what has been going on. There has been much more going on than most understand. Don’t forget the “trolls” and the ugliness they have dished out, including hacking into our first cookbook and trying to destroy it! Like I said, there is soooo much to tell!!! I think a movie would be a GREAT thing!!!!!!!

Because we all know that in his mind he never does anything wrong. The two major books are strongly pro-Leach and I would guess that you would continue along those lines, which I don’t think is fair. Was the admin correct in acting the way they did? Hell N! Are Craig James’ pattern of actions completely self serving"? Obviously. Was Leach totally innocent? Far from it.
Its a three sided story with enough shameful misconduct on all three sides to go around, I just dont see a “hero” anywhere.
The story if there is one will be with the redemption of ML rising to the power of Pac-12 and National Champion, not sure he will live long enough to accomplish either.

We all love Texas Tech and I think it’s fair to say anyone who frequents DTN now or who frequented DTN over the past 3-4 years knows where we all stand and feel towards the Leach situation. I also think willingly shining a negative light on Tech or telling students if they belong at Tech or not is just wrong. It’s obvious you have the money and position to enact a film about the situation so at the end of the day the decision is yours. I would caution you though that if you follow through with the project and it blows up in your face causing fellow Raiders to shun you I wouldn’t plan on using threads like this one or others on DTN to cite as reasons for your decision. It’s clear most of us want nothing to do with harming TTU in the public eye. Personally I am taken aback at the thought that after so many years of great banter on DTN (most of the time) it is slowly morphing into what Seth mentioned above. That would be a tragedy. This site is for Tech athletics and Seth is gracious enough to allow many of us, me included, to air our frustrations with the administration that have caused harm to our athletic programs but at the end of the day we still focus on athletics. I side with Seth on this one…if there are a number of you who feel so passionately about the administration and doing harm to them while innocently causing undue harm to the school so many of us love then start your own site. I’m not even saying I wouldn’t occasionally visit the site to see what’s going on or vent a little but DTN isn’t that place. Too much hard work by Seth to let that happen.
I am proud of your success and that you represent TTU in a place so far away. For that I say thank you and Wreck Em but I also caution you against abusing the power/influence you’ve worked so hard to get in trying to group every Tech fan/alumnus/student/supporter into one camp in hopes of finding a base of support for your film. I am proud I have my undergraduate degree from Tech and I love that place more than any other institution on earth so the thought of seeing it portrayed as any part of a scandal (good guy or bad guy) on a screen throughout America where people’s first impression of Texas Tech will be about the Leach debacle doesn’t excite me. Why not do a film about Tech football similar to Friday Night Lights but at the college level and showcase the history of the town/university/fanbase/quality of people? The Leach chapter could be a part of the film, Bobby Knight chapter, etc but the overall film is a positive one…I guess at the end of the day I just want no harm done to Tech in a film. Best of luck to you though.
Have good and get give
Thank you.
I love Tech too. I don’t have power or influence. Far from it. And I would never intentionally do anything to harm Tech.
I miss it, and I am jealous of those of you who still get to be around it. From what I saw while there last year, the place looks pretty darn spectacular.
I have thanked, and continue to thank Seth. He is pretty amazing. And it has nothing to do with this site. Maybe you know why.

I absolutely know why
Which is what shaped my response. At the end of the day it’s your decision. We all want what is best for Tech.
Have good and get give
I appreciate the kind words, but this:
And I would never intentionally do anything to harm Tech.
And this:

Are not in agreement. Maybe it’s just me, but telling students not to attend Texas Tech is intentionally harming Texas Tech.

Comments
I think my comments were misinterpreted. I think Tech should have students who are leaders and who foster other students to become leaders.

Again ... "You are who they say you are".
A film showing that Tech is NOT who Craig James, Nancy James, Spaeth Communications, ESPN, Kent Hance, President Bailey, some BOR members, and boosters says she is …. is fine with our family. The truth is already out there. the only chapter left to be finished is …. does any good come out of it?
I've been visiting this great site since 2007, posting since 2008...
and I bet there’s not two regular posters that know where I live, or what I do for a living. Maybe I’m simply a private person, I don’t know.
However, something tells me the Coen Brothers, Terrence Malick,, Coppola, don’t visit blogs asking for input before beginning a film venture.
I’m pretty sure if John Huston ever visited a blog, he’d immediately go outside and shoot something.
Woody Allen? He might, just for the sheer absurdity.
Paraphrase a quote
All it takes for Evil (Bad) people to prosper is for good men to stand by and do nothing.
I think we have done nothing for too long, and trying for the sake of good (even if it fails) is a good first step.

This is fine, but it doesn’t have to be here like this. If everyone is so passionate about this, then what are they doing on a blog that literally has zero influence with anyone in any sort of power at Texas Tech. Again, if someone really is passionate about it, then do something about it, but posting on DTN using an pseudonym isn’t going to get it done.

So which guy are you?
According to TTU04’s post via Kwash’s link, your name is Jason Galvez. If that is the case, that means you may either be this guy:
http://www.theeagle.com/local/2-attorneys-admonished
http://txboda.org/cases/jason-c-galvez
http://www.martindale.com/Jason-C-Galvez/1632557-lawyer.htm
A lawyer and TTU grad who has some ethics issues.
Or this guy:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4365327/
An actor with one television credit with not one single television or movie writing credit.

Credibility is rapidly coming to an end big guy. Feel free to delete the thread, we won’t hate you for it.
"This time it's different."
Well...I wasn't going to go there.
…just gotta be careful how you portray yourself. Especially here…can I get an amen?
11/12/11...66-6...I once was blind, but now I see.
IMDB is sometimes wrong. I wrote two plays called Macbeth & Romeo and Juliet a long time ago
IMDB credits a Bill Shakespeare with both scripts. I knew that dude & he could barely write a grocery list without the help of his boy-toy The Earl of Oxford.
"...Fight for the school we love so dearly"
And based on the content and writing style our friend also appears to be the very vocal commenter “Ag4life” responding to the “injustices” presented in the Eagle article. Personally I feel this was in poor judgment. If you are really intent on a feature film of the Craig James conspiracy, I suggest beginning with that million that you seem so free with and see if that can get you professional financing, not penny-ante handouts from discontented DTN posters.
Wrong
IMDB is a site people pay to use to promote their entertainment projects. I wouldn’t pay to use such a site just as I wouldn’t pay to use a recruiting site.
And as much as I would have liked, I don’t think my grades were good enough to get me into law school.
The only reason I sent in a pic is because another DTN’er requested former students send in pic’s of themselves in different places (hence, the incredible astronaut photo).

Looking at the Fanposts and Fanshots
there is not much about Tech football. Most of the posts involve ex-coaches, ex-players, other college games, other pro games, or tacos. mmm tacos.
Here is to hoping for some good Tech football news,
and Nascar starts in a month.
Nascar
There is only one sport and its damm near year around its called college football! Most of the year you compete against yourself and other teams in living rooms talking teenagers into moving into your commune.
Every September your cult matches up against other cults from around the area and the country. Ritualistic meals are prepared and served on site along with the particular traditional beverage of your clan, flags are raised, costumes are donned and the battle ensues. Often times no-clear winner emerges and the outcome is debated for years.

Blaze a trail, spend some time in West Texas, feel the sand sting your skin and burn your eyes, let the winter dry your hands, learn that its there only because our ancestors didn’t want to be around other people … that’s West Texas
Another thing...............
The really rich, accomplished individuals that I know, don’t walk
around telling anyone. Just an observation on my part.
"All I wanted was my icream cone and my little cream soda, oh well, oh well, oh well" White Stripes
"that you know",
and of course theres no problem with that. but there’s plenty of rich and accomplished individuals that do walk around telling everyone, i.e. people in the entertainment industry, and then theres a good bunch of those rich kids here at tech, and i guess most schools, for that matter, that walk around around flaunting their parents wealth, which i used to get mad at, then i realized it’s just funny how they haven’t realized how the real world works yet

you do whatever,
your big Texas/New York heart desires. We could talk trash all day, and well, we kind of do, this being the internet and all. I’m honored that you would take the time to bounce ideas off of some of your fellow DTN’rs and Red Raiders, but seems to me this is a project you already have your sights set on. I wish you the best of luck, hoping it will shed a positive light where positive light deserves shedding, and a negative light where negative light deserves shedding
the guy is soliciting advice
not money
no point in waterboarding him
my advice:
not sure there is much interest on it
imo things like this happens all the time
i would wait a bit longer and see what happens to Leach at WSU
and Tech with Tuberville to get the “rest of the story” sort to speak
wouldn’t worry about Tech
we made our bed
let things fall where they want to
best wishes
awwww fracas, "waterboarding" without resorting
to out and out name calling as per Seth’s rule is part of what this site is all about! I always chuckle at our mob mentality on this site. i’m particularly encouraged, however, by the hire of an experience DC, despite my current reservations on Tubberville. maybe he will SEC-ize us. Maybe he will, with an ACC DC

It would have said to the fans, “You shook me all night long. Yeah you shook me. Yeah you shook me”.

Leach
made a Jailbreak after getting Kicked in the Teeth and will now lead Pullman into a new Powerage. Big Balls will be flying through the air and his team will Walk All Over You. Meanwhile Tech is Deep in the Hole and you can’t Shoot Your Guns up sign anymore. All of our Guns for Hire have been Shot Down in Flames with one being a Touch Too Much to handle. Moneytalks so go do your movie, I’ll just Sink the Pink.

virtual torches and pitchforks are not as entertaining
