Recruits Survey
This is pretty interesting. Especially the question related to conf realignment and if recruits REALLY care what conf a school is in. I think we as fans WILDLY overrate the importance of conf alignment when it relates to recruiting.

crap...my fault. Forgot about that.
Anyway, ESPN did a survey of 45 of the ESPN Top 150 recruits…asked them several questions. Here’s a snip…
TRUE/FALSE: CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT HAS BEEN AN IMPORTANT RECRUITING ISSUE FOR ME.
True: 15.6 percent
False: 84.4 percent
As the nation was consumed by who was moving where, recruits were, well, not paying attention. Only 15.6 percent cares about conference ties. Says one among the 84.4 percent who tuned out, “I had no idea what was happening, and it wouldn’t have changed anything. You can get to the BCS and the NFL from any FBS school now.”

I disagree
when it come to choosing between Automatic Qualifying conferences it barely matters, especially because most conferences are set up in regions (kids either like being close to home, or faraway). But when a kid is looking at going to an AQ school or not, there is a certain amount of influence at work there. If tech got stuck outside looking in, and TAMU is in SEC and UT and TCU were in some other big conference that would hurt TTU’s football program. Especially when TTU football has some uncertainty in which direction it is heading.
More than 80% of the recruits surveyed by this said conf realignment and affiliation has
almost nothing to do with decisions…it’s what the actual recruits are saying.

Did they ask anything about an AQ school compared to a non-AQ school?
While I’m sure a recruit is indifferent in the Big XII or SEC situation if they were choosing between Angelo State and Tech I would assume Tech being in the Big XII is a pretty big attraction.
Have good and get give
Agree
I would find it really hard to believe that an AQ versus a non-AQ didn’t matter in the decision making process.

Well, the poll is skewed a bit.
They were talking to kids in the ESPN Top 150 – the best of the best at that level. I assume most of those guys signed with AQ schools or schools that have a good shot at the BCS as an at large.

I just took a peek
Only 7 of the Top 150 signed with a non-AQ school. Several of those were Notre Dame signees, one East Carolina, one Houston.
