Texas Tech Thursday Morning Notes - Still Sad-Happy Edition

Double-T Nation News:

Make sure and catch the new ESPN article on Captain Leach. It's really good.

Again, a little sad-happy this morning as I found the video of Kevin Burns Transferring the Reins to the new Masked Rider, Ashley Hartzog. I did appreciate how Ashley recognized the greatness of Kevin's work as the Masked Rider and his mustache. It's still pretty tough for me, so without further comment, the video:

Texas Tech Football:

DMN's Albert Breer commented on the DMN Dallas Cowboys blog about Danny Amendola and connects the dots with the coaching staff and Welker. Wade Phillips was in San Diego when Welker was cut and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett was at Miami while Welker was there and told Aikman that Welker was his favorite player to coach.

It's pretty quiet this morning, so I bring two items to you for your reading pleasure:

  1. Garnet and Back Attack and Addicted to Quack on the BCS v. Playoff conundrum.
  2. Crimson and Cream with the Spring Football Roundtable Round Up.

Texas Tech Baseball:

This is almost a month old and I completely missed it before, but there is a pretty interesting Q & A with Pat Knight with the Brownsville Herald. An interesting read that we might take a look at later in the year.

Texas Tech Baseball:

Date Texas Tech (21-26) Dallas Baptist (31-15) Result
Wed. 05/07/08 @ 6:30 p.m. 7 (L: Russ Fornea, 3-4) 16 (W: Jarred Stafford, 2-0) Boxscore

The Red Raiders got hammered by the Dallas Baptist Patriots, 16-7. That's not the best way to get back on the saddle. The pitching was, well, awful. Starter Russ Fornea pitched 2.0 innings, giving up 4 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. And it was one guy who tortured Fornea, Ryan Goins had 2 home runs, in the 1st and 2nd inning, for 5 RBI. Robert Kilcrease pitched 3.0 innings, 7 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), walked 1 and 1 strikeout. The first batter that Kilcrease pitched to hit a homerun and it was downhill from there. Paul Gonzalez pitched 0.2 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 runs, walking 2 and striking out none, while Austin Quick finished out the inning without a blemish. It was only Gonzalez's 6th appearance of the year and Quick's 7th. Owen Brolsma pitched 1.0 inning, giving up 2 hits, 1 run, walking and striking out none. James Leverton pitched the 9th, giving up 1 hit, no runs, and walking 1.

It was the top of the order that did the most damage. Willie Rueda went 2-5 with 2 RBI, Joey Kenworrthy went 1-4 with 1 RBI, Doug Thennis went 2-5 with 1 RBI and Jason Seefeld went 1-4 with 2 RBI.

Up next is a series with Oklahoma State and LAJ's George Watson has a preview of the Cowboys.

Yes,
the best part about the new format is that on game day threads, the comments appear by themselves, no refreshing. It's internet magic.

The other part that I'm excited about is the tags feature, which would help me finding old stories.

Not to mention, it looks pretty cool.

Go Raiders . . .
