Game Day Thread - Texas Tech v. Minnesota

I'm throwing the game thread up early as due to the storms, I'm without satellite, i.e. no NFL Network.  I may be forced to listen to this on the internet, watch it on the Yahoo boxscore or watch the replay at midnight tonight.

Update: I'm up and running.

We've got to make a stand right here.

holy shit!
what the hell is happening here!

I'm sitting here at my home in Minnesota next to my Minnesota neighbor, who's wearing all her gopher garb, including her gopher dr seuss cat in the hat hat and they're kicking your ass.

Arrggggh!

21-0. you guys should be able to score fast on them, but right now the Red Raiders haven't even shown up!

it's not your night
when you intercept a pass inside the ten, then fumble the ball into the friggin' end zone and the other team ends up on the 20 instead of the two.

good lord.

i bet my last $7000 on Texas tech over on the Black Shoe Diaries blog contest.

I'm drinking. How 'bout you?

time to kill myself
this is just so typical tech

and so utterly awful

the interception that goes from a touchdown to a touchback

horrible

btw- Harrell is terrible

by royalsreview on Dec 29, 2006 8:10 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah
what's up with Harrell, wasn't he some blue chip guy?

Tech's defense is playing very poorly, that's the bad sign.

he does look horrible
but it's the entire offense, they look like they could care less

27-0
holy crap.

You know, I called KFAN today - Minneapolis radio. They were going on about how bad Minnesota is, and how easy Tech would crush them, how the line was too low and it was an easy bet.

So, I called and said - you know, Tech has had some serious attitude issues this season, dropping balls, and Leach's name keeps coming up in coaching vacancies, so you could have the possibility of a team simply not showing up at their bowl game.

Ouch!

score
spotted Minnesota 28 points.

If you want hope, a couple years ago, my wife and I were at the Michigan game in which Minnesota gave up something like 38 points in the fourth quarter. It was friggin' heart-breaking.

but, they certainly have it in them.

Boise State?

She was the only one that picked Kentucky over Clemson too.

Have a happy halftime.

No TCU repeat
Three years ago, TTU rallied from 28 down to TCU. Ain't gonna happen again.

No running game. No quarterback.

And Mike Leach looks like he is thinking about his next gig.

by milevin on Dec 29, 2006 9:06 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i think the problem is
there's no Tech defense.

and you're right, it looks like Leach is looking for his next gig.

Tech's defense
has to hold.

The thing with Minnesota is - they're going to go very conservative now. Running on every play - unless they've learned from the past.

And if they have, they'll run run run run, then play-action to that tight end and boom. ouch.

38-21
17 down.

now, Minnesota's worry s going to be running their offense, keeping Tech's offense off the field.

Like I said, I was there when Minnesota gave up 340 points in th fourth quarter against Michigan. It can happen.

This game is now coming down to Minnesota's rushing offense versus Tech's defense. Can Minnesota run the ball for the rest of the game?

because we know now that tech can score.

you have to realize
what a terrible state Minnesota is for college football. I mean, like AWFUL state.

the sport is non-existent here. the radio, newspapers, whatever make fun of the Gophers whenever they get the chance.

The Vikings can suck as bad as they want, and the media will get on them, but not like they do the Gophers.

So.... it's rather sad watching this game, turnout like it is.

what a wonderful game for the odds makers.

what was the line? seven?

There's no way the oddsmakers can lose this now.

Emotional
I've never seen a coach react like that to a win, that was real honesty.  I think Leach really loves where he's at, I know that's a crazy thing.

i hope so
I've always kind of liked the mixture of Texas Tech, Leach, that friggin nutcase Bobby Knight (for whom I'll defend to the death unless he's playing Nebraska at which I'll call him every damned name in the book, just like i did when I went to Minnesota game and he was coaching Indiana).

Hope Leach stays. good win.

bad times for Minnesota.
