Crabtree gets First Team All-American

[editor's note, by Seth C] Bumped from the diaries. Seth C

Texas Tech Athletics and Rivals have posted the All-America selections, and Michael Crabtree is a first team receiver and the lone Red Raider on the list.

Not since three-time Georgia All-American Herschel Walker in 1980 has a collegiate freshman been named to the America Football Coaches Association Coaches' (AFCA) All-America Team - until now. Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Dallas, Texas) has led the Football Bowl Subdivision in receiving since the first game of the season. The All-America honor is one of many anticipated for the Red Raider sensation during the post-season.

Does this strengthen the speculation that he will be gone after next season?  Barring any unexpected circumstances, and duplicating his performance next season, can we really expect him not to go into the draft as soon as he's eligible?

If so, hopefully we can get one or two of these top 10 recruits Tech has been courting recently just in time to replace him.

Good for everyone
I know it seems bad that he may be gone after next year, but those type of players with those type of awards and recognition bring new eyes to the program.  Much like if we could ever get a quarterback past the system guy stigma in the heisman race.

I dont want Crabtree to leave after next year any more than the next guy, but it is good for him if his career continues as is and it is good for Tech.

MC
I just hope he doesn't pull a lloyd hill and fake injuries his last year here. If he does go I also hope he makes it big in the NFL, that is what would really make a statement for TECH.

I concur
My fear is that in the off season he get the big head.  Thatis what i felt like happend to J. Hicks.

He doesnt appear to be that way, but I am not around to hear interviews etc

Crabtree
can do whatever he wants and I will support him 100%.  He is a great player.  Probably the best player Tech has ever had as far as getting recognition for the school.  Crabtree is getting us attention from recruits that never would have thought about attending Tech.  If he wants to leave early, that's great, he deserves it.  He will have helped us out a lot.

easy now
"whatever he wants"  becareful what you ask for!!
B. Hanspard GPA 0.0 + NFL = NOTHING!!!

I agree he is talented and I am the one saying he has done a ton for the university, but I believe for the good of himself and the program he has to stay focused and humble.  Thats all.

no arrests, go to class, work hard etc etc

I totally agree about the recognition from recruits and others we are recieveing from him, but if he doesnt stay focused that all goes away, and quickly.

I will be happy to watch him, either at TTU or the NFL.

Crabtabulous will infiltrate the fans everwhere!
