Sunday Morning Notes

Texas Tech Football:

It's hard to improve on greatness but Sunday Morning Quarterback did with the Coach Leach article.

Texas Tech Basketball:

FWST's John Miller also has his game article. Knight on the team's recent play:

"I wish I had an answer for our being able to play really well," Knight said. "I think the minutes from Oklahoma State through Texas A&M through this game were probably the most good minutes we've played in any three games so far in a row this year."

And Miller has this on Jackson's attempt to break the all-time scoring record in the Big 12:

Jarrius Jackson only hit two 3-pointers, but he finished with 28 points to give him 2,104 for his career. That moved him past Nick Collison of Kansas for second place among Big 12 all-time scorers and past Jason Sasser to become Texas Tech's third all-time leading scorer.

Jackson needs 154 points to pass Andre Emmett, who holds the Big 12 and Texas Tech all-time record for most points scored.

LAJ's Jeff Walker has his game story. Walker has a couple of paragraphs on the Plefka/Silas tussle, but I really thought it was a nothing incident, so I never addressed it, despite the fact that the crowd thought otherwise. Anyway, Knight had this to say about Burgess:

"The thing that Burgess did (Saturday) that was good and refreshing was that he had six assists," Knight said. "There are games where I should have been credited with more assists than Burgess and the ball is in his hands too much with the number of assists that he gets.

"... There are games where, hell, we could have revived Elvis and he would have been a better passer than Burgess was."

We have a number of game stories from last night's game against Colorado. DMN's Tim MacMahon has his game story and this quip from Coach Knight on the "fantastic" officials on the DMN College Blog.

Texas Tech Baseball:

The Red Raiders (6-3) have now won 5 straight, and beat the St. John Red Storm (0-2), 10-6. LAJ's George Watson recaps the game. Doug Thennis went 2-4 with a home run (his 3rd for the year) and 3 RBI, while designated hitter Geoff Byrns went 2-5.

Tech's final game of the Midland Classic is today at 2:00 p.m. against St. John's.
