Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

Tuesday Morning Football Notes

Texas Tech Football:

LAJ's Don Williams has a great article on defensive back, LaRon Moore. A little bit of history on LaRon's uncle, Ronald Moore, who was inducted into the Division II Football Hall of Fame has this to say about his nephew:

"Honestly, he has a lot more tools than I ever had,'' said Ronald Moore, who spent six seasons as an NFL running back. "He's faster at his age than I ever was. I think his knowledge of the game is probably his biggest asset. He's always asking questions and things like that. He's way more ahead of the game from that standpoint than I ever was."

Don Williams has has this on where the coaches have LaRon playing:

"Honestly, he has a lot more tools than I ever had,'' said Ronald Moore, who spent six seasons as an NFL running back. "He's faster at his age than I ever was. I think his knowledge of the game is probably his biggest asset. He's always asking questions and things like that. He's way more ahead of the game from that standpoint than I ever was."

Don and Jeff Walker Huddle Up With fullback David Schaeffer. Okay, usually the answers that the players give are fairly generic, but please read some of David's answers to some of his questions. They are genius, so genius that David retells how he gave Coach Leach a Stacked and Packed calendar (warning: scantily clad women, which may not be safe for work) for Christmas, David's direct quote:

"A little of both. I'm a Bill O'Reilly fan. I listen to a lot of talk radio. G. Gordon Liddy. Rush Limbaugh. Sean Hannity. I like G. Gordon Liddy. I got Leach that Stacked and Packed Calendar. G. Gordon Liddy puts out this calendar. It's women in bathing suits holding guns. He talked about it; I figured he'd want it. Maybe that's why he put me on scholarship."

Don and Jeff also focus in this article on a position battle on the backup to middle linebacker, Paul Williams. Currently, Victor Hunter and Ryan Hale are battling for that role.

In Don's Red Raider Football Notebook he notes that cornerback Brent Nickerson had a big day yesterday with two interceptions and a pass deflection.

A 7 round NFL mock draft? You betcha. Scout.com has a 7 round mock draft with some Texas Tech implications. Here's a rundown of the Tech selections:

  • Manny Ramirez: to Dallas in the 2nd.
  • Gabe Hall: to Dallas in the 6th.

I don't really see Gabe Hall as the big, strong lineman that Dallas is moving towards, but what the hell do I know.
