Coach: Scott Stoker

2007 Schedule:

Date Opponent
9.1 Henderson State
9.8 Central Arkansas
9.15 @ Northeastern

11.3 @ Ole Miss
11.10 @ McNeese State
11.17 Stephen F. Austin

I'm normally not so flippant when it comes to opponents, but I'm really beaten down by the prospect of trying to find 5 players of interest from Northwestern State. In lieu of this, I'll just give you 5 returning players and include whatever stats I could find.

Oh, and don't expect any team stats. As mentioned above, it's Northwestern State.

In no particular order, 5 players of interest from Northwestern State:

  1. Byron Lawrence, RB, Sr.: Lawrence rushed for 821 yards on 187 carries and 4 touchdowns.
  2. Germayne Edmond, QB, Jr.: I couldn't find any other quarterbacks on the roster, so I'm going with Edmond here. Last year as a sophomore, he completed 15-34 for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
  3. Adam Varnado, WR, Sr.: Varnado had 25 catches for 358 yards and 1 touchdown. Averaged an incredible 14 yards per catch last year.
  4. Mack Dampier, LB, Sr.: Dampier had 51 tackles and .5 sacks last year.
  5. Josh Adams, DB, Jr.: Adams had 3 interceptions to go along with 28 tackles.

In no particular order, key Northwestern State Demons statistics: No stats today

Really?
Why does Tech continually schedule these non conference home games. A 4-7 team from the southland conference? I know Leach likes to give his players a rest before conference play but there has got to be another team that is D-1 A that will do. Well the only good thing is Tech Offense can rack up 600+ yards to increase the oh so important total yard average stat.

A game like this
is just a waste of everyone's time. And yes, there has to be a more competent opponent. I hate this too.
Go Raiders . . .

look at it
as additional practice reps for beating UT!  It's also more playing time for our inexperienced team.  I've been watching the CSTV replay of the Tech vs. UTEP game and I noticed one thing... many of the guys returning had playing time in 06 they just didn't start.  Tech is being pegged very low this year because we aren't returning many starters, but we are returning many players!  I think their performance will surprise a lot of people this season.

BTW Kellen Tillman wasn't making any plays in that game either...
