The Global Games concluded Saturday night as Team AA lost to Team USA, 72-86. Team USA is the official U-19 team, consisting of some college sophomores and incoming collegiate freshmen, while Team AA consisted of all incoming freshmen. John Roberson rebounded from a really bad game against Argentina with a decent game against U-19, finishing with 6 points, 4 boards and 5 assists. Not a bad line, it's the 5 assists that I'm focusing on rather than the points as I'd like to see him as more of a distributor than a scorer his first year.

D'Walyn Roberts scored 13 and pulled down 4 rebounds, which isn't a bad line considering he only took 9 shots. I'll take it. As I said yesterday, Roberts is going to get some playing time this year, he's just too athletic not to have on the floor from a defensive standpoint and he's a pretty good offensive player too.

Mike Singletary had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 blocked shot (was tied for a team high for points with Brockeith Payne who is a University of Houston signee). Singletary wasn't quite as efficient as Roberts as he had 13 shots. I love the 8 rebounds and think that he too will see quite a bit of playing time early in the season and depending on how he performs, will see playing time in conference. He's just a good basketball player, does lots of things well, I am very excited about his prospects.

What a great showcase for the talent coming into Texas Tech. From what I can tell, all three of these kids are going to be excellent players, I couldn't be more excied about the prospects of Texas Tech basketball. From what I can tell, all three Red Raiders started and played significant minutes during the tournament playing against excellent competition. This will only make them better players and I hope to see more Texas Tech commits play in future Global Games.
