Texas Tech Friday Morning Notes - Best Moment Edition

Double-T Nation News:

Big game tomorrow night against the Texas Longhorns. Set your Tivo's for 7:00 p.m. and I believe that you can find the game on ESPN Plus. The Red Raiders have had two pretty good wins at home and keep in mind that Texas lost mightily to this Mizzou team at Mizzou. Are they ripe for a loss at home? I can't wait for this game. I'll be posting a preview and open game day thread early tomorrow.

• SMQ has an incredible feature on the correlation between recruiting success and success on the field. I've said this before, but if you don't read SMQ you need to do so now. I tried to do the same thing a while back, but with a lot less stats and thought process. SMQ's analysis is much better.

  One of the things that I'd like to point out is that Mike Leach's Texas Tech squad, which traditionally has less talent than their Big 12 opponent, is one of the teams that does better against higher ranked opponents. SMQ noted that Texas Tech is the 21st best team in terms of winning percentage versus BCS schools from 2002 through 2007, all the while having a Rivals ranking of 46.

  I know that some of you may not appreciate Leach, but I still say that he does more with less talent, and consistently wins.

• Adding fuel to my fire, Coaches Hot Seat has handed out their coaching grades for 2007 and Mike Leach has received a very solid B+.

• A big hat-tip to Fanblogs, who has an interesting story on blogger Richard Lozano, who just happens to owns missouritigers.com. Long story short: Lozano offered to give the website name to Missouri and they never got back to him, 7 years later the Collegiate Licensing Company sent him a letter threatening to sue. The best part is Lozano's demands. This is worth your time this morning.

Texas Tech Basketball:

LAJ's Jeff Walker writes this morning about the short bench in the win against Missouri. Walker correctly notes that there was hardly a substitute in the 2nd half, with Singletary subbing in for Burgess who fouled out. Knight had this to say about the rest of the game:

Danny Amendola will be playing in the Texas v. The Nation game. The game will be played February 2, 2008 and will be televised on CSTV , check your cable listings . . .

Right on schedule, YouTube user huberk20 posted a 7 minute video of Danny Amendola greatness. The video was a little strange at the end, but it's Friday, you've got nothing else better to do. Also, I had completely forgotten how great his hit was against Alabama.
