Texas Tech Wednesday Morning Notes - No Snappy Title Edition

Double-T Nation News:

In no particular order, DTN's Top Five:

  1. Disco Tech! is back and pointing out Aggie mistakes.
  2. RaiderAde is on spring break taking a look at the SEC.
  3. Basketball Prospectus' Bradford Doolittle takes a look at the NBA prospects playing in the NCAA and the NIT Tournaments.
  4. Holy smokes. This is a shocking (WARNING: LANGUAGE) interview with rapper, DMX, who has no clue who Barack Obama is.
  5. ESPN's Tim Griffin is taking a look at all of the Big 12 Teams, starting with Oklahoma State and has his Big 12 Roundup (BearMeat's President Andrews must be crying somewhere as John David Weed has been moved to tight end).

Texas Tech Track:

Congratulations again to Sally Kipyego was named United States Track and Field Coaches Association Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Texas Tech Basketball:

Yahoo! Sports has it's Texas Tech Team Report, which breaks down this past season. Nothing to argue with here, and would agree that the key to future seasons is more talent. PK doesn't have much time to waste.

The NJCAA Men's National Basketball Championship is being played in Hutchinson, Kansas right now and Texas Tech signee, Darko Cohadarevic, played last night as Seward County CC beat Chipola College, 90-84. Cohadarevic had 25 points on 7 of 15 shooting, including 4-6 from the 3-point line, and was 7-8 from the free throw line. I didn't like the 5 rebounds or the 5 turnovers.

Today, Texas Tech signee Nick Okorie plays for South Plains College as they take on Georgia Perimeter at 11:00 a.m.

Texas Tech Baseball:

Date Texas Tech Corpus Christi Result
Tuesday 03/18/08 @ 7:00 p.m. 21 (W, Russ Fornea: 2-2) 8 (L, T. Hernandez: 0-3) Boxscore

This Texas Tech team is starting to beat the teams they are supposed to beat, clobbering the Corpus Christi Islanders 21-8. Russ Fornea got the win and pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 runs, 3 earned, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. The bullpen pitched the remaining 4 innings giving up 4 runs, 3 earned, walking only 2, and striking out 5. I think we can all agree that the lower number of walks is a good sign and can only hope that this game is a harbinger for things to come this weekend against UT.

Kieschnick hit his 9th home run for the year, a grand slam, and the entire team had 21 hits. Second baseman Willie Rueda went 3-5 with 5 RBI, while Chris Hall, Doug Thennis, and Juan Rodriguez each had 3 hits.

Kieschnick
what year is he in? if he's not a senior, doubt that he stays around for another year anyway.

I think he's actually
a junior, which makes him draft eligible this year. He'd be crazy not to go.
Go Raiders . . .
