Texas Tech Friday Morning Football Notes - We Can Win Every Game Edition

Double-T Nation News:

In no particular order, DTN's Top Four:

  1. Rock Chalk Talk on Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers declaring for NBA draft.
  2. This is really cool. A huge cargo ship tips over and a salvage company is hired to save the ship's cargo, the catch is that they get 10% of the cargo's value if they save the ship, but $0 if they don't (via Kottke).
  3. SMQ on recruiting, complicated math, and oversigning recruits.
  4. NBA/NCAA trying to end AAU (via Barking Carnival).
  5. OSU's new basketball coach, Travis Ford, is very conflicted.
  6. True Hoop updates the Seattle situation.

Texas Tech Football:

As posted yesterday, LAJ's Don Williams confirms that the Red-Black Scrimmage will be on the NFL Network. Here's AD, Gerald Myers:

"We are extremely happy the NFL Network has agreed to broadcast out annual Red-Black spring football game," tech athletic director Gerald Myers said in a statement released by the university. "This broadcast is a reward for the student-athletes and coaches that put in a lot of hard work to prepare for the 2008 season. We are excited to continue our relationship with the NFL Netowrk that started with the 2006 Insight Bowl."

I don't know who made this happen, but thank you. I'm one of the few people who has the NFL Network, so I'm crazy-happy this morning.

If you take a look at the front page of the Yahoo! Sports College Football page, you'll see Mr. Crabtree's awesomeness. The story on Mr. Crabtree is by Rivals.com's Olin Buchanan, and Mr. Crabtree's attempt to chase and break more records. Mr. Crabtree is quietly confident about this year's prospects:

"Last year my goal was to win the Biletnikoff Award," Crabtree said. "This year I would like to take the next step."

Snip

"I'm looking at this team going undefeated and going to a big bowl game," he said after a recent spring practice. "I think we can win every game."

Snip

"We have my whole offensive line back," Crabtree said. "We have our quarterback. We have 10 people from the offense back from last year and we've got a defense coming up. Our d-line is doing real good right now."

And Leach on Mr. Crabtree:

"He's improved on certain routes," Leach said. "He accelerates out of his cuts. He's improved on that. The thing about Michael Crabtree is that even on bad days, he's ultimately competitive enough that he'll have a pretty good day. Like everybody, he gets tired and distracted, but he's really competitive as far beating the guy across from him."

how bout this red raiders?
I was watching ESPN College Gameday Now and they had a piece on Crabtree asking Leach if he could return kicks!  Leach said he wasn't opposed to the idea but did not have any plans to move Crabtree to kick returns.  Think of the possibilities???

Also, a person wrote in and asked what are the chances of Tech winning the big 12 south?  The smartass announcer, Trey I think is his name, asked "is Oklahoma and Texas still in the south? Then that's my answer".  I think this jackass is a UT alum, which makes him an arrogant UT lickspittle...

that's where
you delineate between the educated and uneducated and the guys probably doesn't follow the Big 12 very closely. Go ahead and let the jackass have egg on his face and when November rolls around he'll be changing his tune.

I also hope you got his name so we can start a little email campaign.

Go Raiders . . .
